The AFL's True Heroes; The 100 Club

This thread is to celebrate the real gladiators of the modern game. Not the eye-catching, cheap possession winning Brownlow hopes. Not the fancy boy, big marking Coleman medal chances, not even the under-rated, see-ball, punch-ball defenders. No, this thread is dedicated to the Footballers' Footballer, the unyielding warrior, the rarest of breeds of the modern game.

Welcome to the 100 Club where we laud the season's legends who have shown elite endurance, consummate professionalism and have managed to avoid the runner for an entire game. These are the men who have achieved 100% game time.

All hail the true champions of 2016;

Problem with using 100% game time as your measure is that no midfielder is ever going to achieve it

Welcome the newest inductee to the club, Gold Coast superstar Tom Lynch. A huge effort in avoiding the bench for the entire win against St Kilda. Maybe Rocket Eade will learn a lesson from this and give his young forward all the game time he can handle from here on in.

If there was any doubt that the Sydney/Bulldogs game was one of the best of the season then let me dispel that right now. Heath Grundy, Dale Morris and Marcus Adams all displayed incredible determination and strength to see out the entire match. A coincidence that the Bulldogs had 2 of the 3 and won? I don't think so.

Again proving there is no player in the league more determined to contribute, Josh Gibson achieves an eleventh perfect 100 for the season.

Another inductee tonight with superb staying power from Harry Taylor. A pity for the Cats that a few of his mates didn't show the same commitment. The 100 club continues to attract only the cream of the crop.

Sam Rowe confirms his credentials against Adelaide. It would have been easy to seek a breather in a 10 goal loss, but that's just not his style. Great man, great footballer.

3 of the usual suspects see out a full game at the SCG. The match was a classic and only a fool would suggest these 2 things are not related.

Josh Gibson further entrenches his reputation as a resilient beast moving to 12 full matches in the season, 2 clear of his nearest competition. Say what you like about him but his ability to make himself a small target for the runner is unmatched.

Out of interest, who was the last play to play 100% of every match of the season? May not have happened for ten years, although I seem to recall Tom Harley doing it

In 2004 Harley played 100% of 21 games out of 25. The other 4 games were 90+.

Can remember a few years back now maybe 05 when Collingwood didn't make the finals James Clement had his first spell on the bench in the 4th quarter of round 22
