Zanker doing the Wayne Carey thing of late was what gave us a chance against the best teams. No surprise we went to shit when we had to depend on the inconsistent tall brigade without her out there.
I don't know how it much it would have changed, structurally Brisbane always had a spare at the top of the square to not allow that one on one. But then again sometimes Zanker seemingly plucks them out of the air vs two

She looked to be warming up for a biggie - then again I always assume that if any player goes down early. I’m just glad it wasn’t an ACL. I missed the collision and saw her getting helped off the field and it somehow looked like a knee for a bit. I was relieved when she jogged the rest of the way

Looks like it's going to be old rivalries we play in for the first couple weeks of finals

Adelaide are still a well drilled side, but at times this year have looked a lot more cooked than we have. We can't afford to be out worked by run again

As i said during the game, Zanker out could very well be a rehearsal for our forward setup next season
Love it when your team is still in finals and you’re already thinking about the next season!

I agree though - it’s an interesting challenge and we could learn a lot from it. And I really think we are in the same position as every other team but one at the moment - everyone is looking longer term to figure out ways of getting past North Melbourne

It's a complex problem for next year that's been brought forward and needs a now solution

We can trust the AFL to get it right and not do some random knee-jerk thing that screws the competition and pisses everyone off though!

Haven't won a final since winning the flag
And i reckon Adelaide will beat us too. I've always maintained we aren't a top 4 side. We had a very soft draw and have looked terrible away from Casey. Purcell going down meant we weren't going to match the better teams in the middle, and now Zanker is questionable, our F50 looks completely disorganised. Doesn't matter anyway really, as Kangas were always going to win the flag and a Lions v Kangas final was close to being locked in from early season and it's the final that SHOULD happen. Hopefully I'm wrong of course, but even if we win we definitely aren't getting close to the Kangas in the prelim.

I am agreed, in this game vs Brisbane it was probably her best game as she was involved in the play a lot which is why i put her in my bests at the time. The rest of the year, eh asides from two good quarters against the pies. Bannan appears to be playing a key role, in a side that has Zanker and Harris in it. She's also not overly physical, her best attributes are her speed for her size which in her position isn't being used,
Yep totally... her role seems to be too defensive as a key half forward.

Please coach Stinear. Play Bannon across the centre-line, starting Wing... or at worst half forward flank, with a licence to run & roam.
Put McNamara on the forward flank as a defensive flanker, also able to roam down back.

We need these two running with the ball and linking up with team-mates.

Yesterday we looked slow compared to the Lions, thru the middle... and I'm sure the Lions are much more athletic than us, across their list.

We missed our Qtr-Back Chaplin, coming out of our back-half... so maybe Hore could start from that key back position.?
Chaplin was just starting to command that spot, which we lacked in... since Maddi Gay left us.

Lost me with this. Hore is too valuable in midfield/forward. O'Hehir has a bit of toe and if Goldy is in she can give some run. Or Paxy as an older head to Marshall things; her age has shown more playing on the wing but if she can be the sweeper at HB her read of the game would be valuable.

Maybe a wing or roaming HF is best for her. Her runs can be really good at opening up attacks.

Agree of McNamara. Her work rate both ways is amazing but agree her disposal can be meh
Yep, Totally on both D_77.

McNamara seems to struggle handling the footy... maybe smallish hands.? But her run and enthusiasm and reading the play seems quite good.

Since we need Paxy on one wing to influence the midfield, I think we need Bannan on the other.

With Bannan stuck inside F50 too much... we lose her run and leg speed through the midfield and transition.

True, but we are more easily scored against with Chaplin out, and our team has become used to quality exits from our back-half from Chaplins work.

Hore is good enough to get involved in general play coming off halfback, and with Bannan off a wing... Bannan can easily push back behind the footy assisting the defenders.

Hore could still push up-field, as she reads the play so well. starting from CHB.

O'Hehir has a bit of toe
I agree O'Hehir showed something a month ago but she is So inexperienced.

Our other issue is gGall. She is playing like a sheep needing a shepherd... playing like a girl, instead of a grown woman.

She has all the tools to be THE Key Forward off CHF. But seems very sheepish.

I'd like to see her back herself to the hilt and fly strongly for marks, and if she doesn't clunk them then at least splits the packs.
She needs a good dose of aggression.
If another tall team member is close she seems to back off and stay down. I'd rather see 2 tall forwards getting after the mark than for gall to stay down at this stage.
