I’ll miss her but a very high pick would be amazing.

The AFLW draft gets stronger every year now that we’re selecting from players that have been playing right through their teens

I'm not saying any success is undeserved. But the power of North Melbourne in the AFLW is a real problem for the competition

Having a number 1 draft pick from a battling but slowly improving foundation club nominate to go to undefeated premiers North Melbourne as soon as their contract is up is also just a ****ed look

But also worrying, again nothing against North themselves doing what they're doing. If it was us, i'd be wanting to maintain. But like the last two years + this, are a serious warning shot to the competition that they don't plan on going away. An extended period of dominance will make the competition feel uncompetitive against a super team.

Yeah it looks kinda shit (although K-L W-T hasn't really starred yet as a former #1 pick). I guess if they have to give up a player to get her rather than (or in addition to) pick 18 that might appear more reasonable. Think the suns have a few top academy picks this year so 18 may push out a bit?

Kudos to them though in building themselves into the dominant force/destination club they are.

On a separate note, I saw a few North Melbourne fans on social media dig up and old Caro article calling the club a boys club for sacking their inaugural coach, and saying how wrong it was.

I mean yes it worked out entirely, but I'm I insane for thinking both can be right? Better coach or not, still flicked your first coach for an Ex-North player

Norf supporters are funny creatures. Plenty online carrying on like this is the most amazing thing to ever have happened lol. Like this is the greatest side to have ever taken a field. They really have had absolutely nothing to celebrate since the Carey incident have they. Solid team, but the competition is so bad, you just can't take it that seriously. I'm not even sure it's necessarily their program or they are doing anything differently, they just poached the right players which made them too strong for the rest of the comp. In no way should a recent #1 draft pick be able to choose them as a destination. If the AFL are serious in getting people to watch the women's game, then this shouldn't be able to happen. Players can't just cherry pick a flag here surely.

Her Partner is from WA and she wants lifestyle change away from Melbourne.

Yeah ordinary look. Other players like Bowers from Freo, Daisy etc have come back and played well after kids.
Carlton are on the up with their young kids who look really good, but surely Peterson is a good older head to have around for culture/leadership if nothing else?

ALSO the club was quite transparent with hunting for a Goodwin successor. But looking for a new coach since the first time since the founding of the woman's side, it's crickets. Haven't heard us assemble a panel, no real announcements from the executive that we're looking around or even looking internally

Always gonna be tricky to get fair value when she pretty much nominated Freo and wasn't in contract. Still, feel like a 1st and 2 seconds would've been fair value for Zanker; Johnson for a 4th rounder/change seems fair - she's an alright squad player but probably always on the cusp of the 23.

Us tossing in our 2nd for this year seems unnecessary; is 2024 Tim Lamb doing the trades for the W side too?
