With Stewarts broken wrist where does that leave him and the club? I'm not sure he had much trade value before hand but that would be an added risk I assume?
Well on the weekend he was in our best 22...... Do you think he has brittle bone syndrome.

He's not durable that's for sure, but I was alluding that perhaps if he was to be offered as a trade deal, his recent injury could work against us.
A guy who can play multi positions, is hard to match up on and has courage ,I want on my list.

I got about quarter the way through a thought out reason to delist him/trade him but i got bored. He is most likely obsolete at the beginning of next year. People will go past him. He is better than a few others who should be delisted before him, so we don't need to do that. Good depth. Wouldn't be against trading if we could manufacture something juicy..

stewert is far better than his form this year suggests.

out side of people who follow port closely most wouldnt rate him or even know who he is. people in the afl would know better. but still he would be a buy cheap type target for a team at the moment with this years form and they would get a bargain.

we would be better off holding onto him.

how good is it having a player around the back end of our first 22 who is a solid to very good 22 player, and not a fringer lucky to make your side type player like we have had lately.

Stewart doesn't really fit into my best 22 but as a Mr Fix-It type I think he'd be a handy depth player. If somebody makes a decent trade offer I'd go for it, but they won't, and there are much more pressing issues to sort on our list than him. He gets to stay.

My big question with list management is whether Brett Ebert gets another go around. It would be sad for his sake to see him go, particularly if nobody else picks him up, but I can't see him getting a game again unless maybe Angles Monfreebounce gets rubbed out for an extended period of time.

I think with all his injurys he may make this decision himself.

There is nothing wrong with his form i.e. kicking, tackling, marking, whatever. The coaches just aren't using him. He was near best on playing Jonas' role last week.

If we don't see him in our future plans then put him on the trade table. With Hombsch and Heath coming through it is probably a smart idea.

It's a weird position to be in with Stewart, because I would reckon he'd have some trade value, particularly to a GWS or Melbourne looking to stock up on experience, no fuss players. However, we haven't been in the position where we've had genuinely decent players free to trade out for quite some time.

Again I'll mention it's uncommon for players just to be shunted out of a club for trade due to the effect it has on the playing group, especially one as close as ours (by all reports). However, if he was told there might be limited chances for spots in the future, he might opt to leave.

I think he gives us enough value that I'd like to keep him around, as he is good defensively and can counter-attack (or even play as an attacking forward to some extent), however he probably doesn't have enough strings in his bow to really make it in a premiership team.

But if you have players coming through who can play the same role, you can move him on.

Problem is he hasn't had many opportunities the last 2 years to do what he does best and might not get us much in a trade.
Some player are worth more to the club they are at than to another club, I am extremely reluctant to trade guys out of our club who grew up being Port supporters.

Plus we don't have a lot of guys with his experience which is going to be vital as Cornes and Cassisi fade into the night

Paul Stewart is very versatile and while not a star is a handy depth player who can play a variety of roles. He is also incredibly popular around the club which can't be discounted- having team players like him helps to firm up the culture Ken and Keith have brought to the club.

We're lucky enough to be in the position now that players are wanting to come here, rather than the other way around. We're also very lucky not to have lost anyone overly important yet. We can figure out a way of getting any of Polec, Day, Gorringe etc. without giving away anyone we need- hell other clubs do it, look at the Hawks with Shaun Burgoyne, us with Brad Ebert and Norf with Ben "lol" Jacobs. Convince a player to come to our club and things will work themselves out.

nah i like stewart have a look at round 1 this year... 15 possies 3 goals playing a defensive role on watts who barely saw it. He is smart, versatile and has good skills just needs some luck. Some big players have stuck by port recently think port should do the same
