I like him when he's commentating Collingwood games and they're losing, but other than that, he's a bit of a pest. There are certainly worse commentators around.
At least with Ed he keeps it simple. Comments with passion
Basil and Hamish put me to sleep they would better suit test cricket
Bruce would better commentate a master chef.

I think ed reminds me a little of Michael Christensen who was my favourite TV commentator

We will crash back to earth hard come Sunday evening. The win against Adelaide will be nice to look back on at the end of the year but it will mean sfa against north. I'll be going to the game but at least with the knowledge I've unloaded my bank account on the kangas.

Fwiw I long for the day we beat up on a team we should but until we bloody do this team is not going anywhere and it sticks in my gut. If we somehow beat norf I'll be celebrating harder than the Adelaide win cause it will be much more significant for this club in breaking out of the same old cycle

Yeah absolutely no passion from Bruce. Yep, gotcha.

Yeah exactly - I think north are pretty good - they pushed geelong harder and beat Adelaide by more for example.

Plus since we did it for Jessie last week the boys will be flat - and we will roll that excuse out and say young team etc

It's definitely not a disgrace to lose to north but I rank out chances of beating them about 10%

Is it pragmatism or pessimism.. I don't even know anymore mate
It's a protection mechanism mate, you've been hurt too many times. You need to protect your feelings and only give small pieces of your trust out until a pattern of reliability and security is established. This may take some time but if you are committed to the union it will be worthwhile. As long as you are committed to the union you may (and should) still express your anger, hurt and feelings of betrayal....... well that's what my marriage counselor reckons anyway

What do you need a marriage counsellor for, you have a boat.

I can still go into full melt mode with the best of them. God I was angry after the Hawthorn loss. I'd travelled two hours to the game with my son and then the contest was almost over by 1/4 time.

Suffice to say I realised said counselor was a waste of time and money, hence the boat and ex wife :):p

I think since the first game he's been just average on field.

How much did he play in the backline at Hawthorn though? Surely he's a midfielder through and through so not surprised he hasn't been getting big numbers at the Dees.

I don't think his skills and kicking have been as bad as everyone is making out either. Remember that set shot goal from the boundary? Nailed it without a worry at all.

I wouldn't have an issue with the deal if it was two years instead of three, but since he is signed till the end of 2019 I think it's a waste of money at a reported 600K p/a.

Yeah I will admit 3 years did seem like a bit of a stretch when first announced. That said it might also pay itself off tenfold if we're deep in September and he's still on the field.

I hope you're right. He hasn't been terrible but he is already treacle out there and I know he is a good kick but he has turned over a few easy ones too.

Only difference between him and Bernie is he's a 4x premiership player or else I'd probably finish him up this year.

Is this only because the V-line train comes to and from Spencer Street station?
This might have something to do with it. But i honestly don't mind going to the ground to watch a game

I like Lewis. And I used to hate his guts at Hawthorn and was totally against us trading him in. Compare him on 600k in 2017 to Chrish Dawesh on 600k in 2013... Firstly it's cheaper, and secondly he is actually worth having in the side! As Topkent has mentioned, we really haven't had many consistent senior players for the last decade. Yeah he's no spring chicken but his game awareness is better than anyone else on our list. That matters, especially in such a young side. And if we play in September watch him go to another level.
