Gil is doing exactly what he needs to as head of Australia's largest sporting body

Have a go at him all you want but if you think otherwise you have no idea what it takes to run a business
mate if you cant run a business with honour, or a sporting organization , then you end up like fifa or dick smith

If jobe was any type of bloke he would say look i dont deserve this medal anyway take it and give it to the two people that did deserve it that year... He would gain alot more respect
You are right about Jobe

If Mitchell and Cotch don't want it then just award it to no one for 2012 but there is no way Jab should keep it

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Essendon received 2 year bans, cheats are cheats. AFL are in a no win position because of the failures of one club and their own failure to appropriately monitor what that club was doing.

But I care about the game more than one shit-stain of a club, and the AFL are making sure they focus attention off that shit-stain and onto what we all love about the game.

Just wondering how long it will take for the EFC to put their hand out for cash as the sponsors and crowds fall away and the law suits pile up and the AFL readily stump up.

I am a supporter of the balancing payments going to the smaller clubs but not for mismanagement. Any payment to EFC will be a disgrace.
you heard from gill , they will do whatever it takes

Hmm profit comes ahead of integrity does it? I have worked for the biggest oil company in the world and if they tried that shit (especially after Exxon Valdez and macondo) the ceo would be sacked within days.

The thing I don't like was his comments in regards to the WADA code and the suitability of applying it to the AFL. If he is setting up to walk away from WADA compliance then i'll be disappointed, PEDs have no place in professional sport.

From ABC wrap from ASADA presser
Ben McDevitt:

"To be blunt, the AFL tribunal simply got it wrong.
"Now that the CAS decision is final, I can share some facts of the case, some which have previously been confidential.
"Broadly, there was clear evidence that members of the club implemented a program designed to make Essendon players bigger and stronger and able to recover more quickly to gain an advantage over their opposition.
"In the words of Stephen Dank 'Thymosin was the vital cornerstone of that program'."

  • Essendon's sports scientist Stephen Dank was shown to have used Thymosin Beta-4 on other athletes prior to his arrival at Essendon
  • There were over 100 text messages that unveiled a plan to source Thymosin Beta-4 for the purpose of doping the Essendon team
  • The players signed consent forms agreeing to Thymosin injections and each received a number of injections
  • Six players reported being told they were being injected with Thymosin
  • Two players reported seeing vials marked with the word "Thymosin" in the sports scientist's fridge
  • Two players sent text messages discussing their Thymosin injections with Stephen Dank
  • Scientific analysis of a substance compounded by the pharmacist for Essendon showed that the substance was no other kind of Thymosin other than Thymosin Beta-4 with a 97-99 per cent accuracy
"At the end of the day, 34 players signed on to receive four substances. Yes, they were told the injection program was WADA compliant but they adopted a head-in-the-sand approach in contravention of their anti-doping education.
"They agreed to keep it a secret.
"They failed to declare the injections to doping control officers, they accepted that they were walking close to the line and they deliberately kept it from the team doctor."

The CEO in AFL was removed though

And the oil company will still come out afterwards saying how they're going to fix all their processes up to make sure it doesn't happen again. The exact same thing AFL have done
