So pleased Watson has been dropped! He has done nothing in the test team over such a long period.

Now heres to hoping Marsh can stay injury free! Then we need clarke to hit some form....

Personally wouldnt mind seeing S Marsh in the team long term either... that would mean that voges had to go though and his form warrants another opportunity.

Did you miss the 161* he made with a fractured shoulder to, along with Ryan Harris, win us a 3rd test and series in South Africa (ie. the #1 ranked team)?

He's not in the ungodly form of 2012 but he's still quite easily the 2nd best bat currently in the team.

He's not in the ungodly form of 2012 but he's still quite easily the 2nd best bat currently in the team.

Absolute class with the bat is M Clarke. Just hope he puts up a good first innings score this test, we need some momentum and voges/marsh etc need him and smith to bat a long time.

Since start of 2014 calendar year: 19 innings (3 n.o including 161* in S.A), 540 runs, ave 33.7, No score over 18 in 9xsecond innings.... presumably when our backs are most likely be to the wall! Take that one score of 161 out of it and the picture is abysmal.

His back is clearly stuffed and he's unlikely to play on after the Ashes. Unfortunately the Aussies have a dearth of leadership and Clarke obviously has credits in the bank, in an ideal world he'd have already retired.

As far as backs go his second slip spot is about as good as it could get if you are going to field.

The ROM involved in the athletic ready position 'preparing to take a slips catch or return a tennis serve etc etc' is actually a very comfortabl position for most back conditions.

Despite the fact that 1st innings runs are far more important in winning a match. Presumably you said second innings because you wanted to exclude the 128 he made in Adelaide.

In any case your rhetorical question was flat out stupid given the innings I highlighted.
