Cannot for the life of me understand why Afghanistan wouldn't pick mohhamed shazhad. Fantastic batsman to watch in full flight, has a little bit of ms dhoni to him. Anyone who can shed some light on this ? Or is it similar to Pakistani selection where players disappear every know and then and then reappear a couple of years later?

Just read this article about an hour ago, spends some time on Shahzad:

Long story short, he's not fit enough.

Ahk, I don't have a subscription to that online magazine but thanks for posting. It's a shame because he is a serious talent, I guess they have to instill a work ethic in to what is from what I've seen can be brilliant but is often a pretty erratic team.

And Propser Utseya heaved Zim A over the line by 1 wicket with 4 balls to spare with his 36*. Good effort from Canada defending 170.
Odd considering Zimbabwe pitches are usually flat with a little bit for the seamers.

Given cricket in Associates is seemingly getting stronger its really disappointing there will be less of them in the 2019 World Cup

It's an extremely poor decision by the ICC, but really just another in a long line of them. Their view might be to expand T20 around the planet, seeing it as 'easier' and more entertaining but it's not going to produce a lot of homegrown talent of worth you'd imagine. The 50 over game really seemed like the best medium to develop players in new places.

If anyone isn't aware there are two free warm-up games before the WC - Australia vs the UAE at the MCG and Afghanistan vs the UAE at Junction Oval. 11th and 13th of Feb I think.
