You keep your dirty hands off Coghlan.
Nick Coughlan who played a few VFL games for us this season:thumbsu:
Well that sounds eerily familiar...

FTR he looked damn good in our VFL too. AFL player he is not, you'd be better off picking up Dustin Fletcher, seriously...

He'd play at Footscray only.
Fair enough, I'd prefer Coughlan but if he's gone would be happy to take a chance on Mitch.

He's a CHB who played forward a bit.
Sounds like him showing that capability to go forward during the year is a big reason his stocks have shot up a bit. Ideally I'd rather his brother with pick 11 as forward is the more natural position for him. But in a draft short of key forwards he might be worth a shout with our later pick if his brother is gone at 11.

Two out and out gun mids with 2 of those 3 top 20 picks is a must! Outside of Gibbs, Murphy & Cripps (potentially Nick Graham) we dont have anyone that looks capable of racking up 30 touches.

Possession numbers are overrated mate. It's how you use them that counts.

B McKay seems like a reach when you should be going for best available with #11. Even H Mckay is probably a reach at #11. Tells you a bit about this draft when Aaron Black had a far better draft year than Burton or H Mckay and went at #25.

The way your list is right now I'd be going best available at every selection. You'll probably pick up Collins to partner Weitering as part of that.

A good team has 5+ players capable of 25+ touches. We have 3. I'm not talking about huge numbers sort of mids, just guys that every 5-6 games can pull in 25-30 touches wouldn't go a stray

Also I agree with the best available notion. I wouldn't be against us going 3 mids if they're the best available to go with Weitering. It's a 3 year rebuild so plenty of time/picks to get in a forward

It's a 3 yr rebuild if you nail this draft and don't reach for needs basis picks ;)

Norths worst mid is the only one who gets 30 every week.

At Carlton I'm hoping we don't set the bar at 4th ;)
Well currently it's set at Priority Pick so I don't think you need to worry about that for a while ;)

All I'm saying is that accumulators who do glory be all with the footy are overrated. Also, there are only so many possessions to go around. Unless you like your mids going backwards and sideways with the footy?

Hawthorn had 7 blokes average of 20 touches this season, compared to your 5. Probably gameplan related a bit not just on talent. I'd imagine Bolton's style wont be too dissimilar to that. Last season we had 8, 2 of the are HBFs and 2 are now gone. Our ball getters and users in the midfield are few and far between

so last year you had more players who averaged 20+ touches than Hawthorn. Nothing i could say proves my point more :thumbsu:

And 2 of them play in our backline. And 2 of our 6 mids are no longer at the club. So it's 7 v 4 rather than 7 v 8
but we are talking about last year so my point still stands. You don't need more 20+ possession winners than everyone else to win a premiership/be successful, you need players who use the footy better than others.

Yeah I do get what you mean but my point was more off mids so Docherty & Simpson averaging 20 is redundant from that.

Curnow, Bell, Murhpy, Cripps, Gibbs & Carazzo were our mids to avg. over 20, two of them played 1/2 a season. Whilst I used averages as an example I'd love to know how many Hawks or Kangaroos players actually hit 20+ 5 or more times compared to ours. I'd imagine outside the ones who averaged it for us we'd have none which is what I'm meaning about our lack of midfield depth. So for you guys Higgins, Ziebell & Atley averaged under 20 but they're all capable and did produce some 25+ games, for Hawthorn it's guys like Hill & even Hartung. We don't have those guys who average 16-19 touches who are capable of those games.

that makes more sense. Off the top of my head i'd say Higgins, Wells and Atley are the one's who average under 20 but are capable of massive influence with a smaller number of possessions and are capable of 25+

Cunnington, Swallow, Harvey, Dal, Gibson, Ziebell (19.4 is close enough) are the 20+ regulars for us. Ziebs started slow this year coming off a shoulder reco and a concussion during the preseason. He only had 4 or 5 full contact training sessions before round 1.

There you have it. 9 blokes capable of it. For us it's 4-5. Midfield depth and actual mids that can start in the middle for us is believe it or not I think is worse than our forward line
