Disagree. He's done 3/5 of SFA at Carlton. Doesn't matter if it's bad management, bad luck, bad footballer. It simply does not matter. He's your highest paid player and needs to actually perform within the realm of what would be expected as a result. Time to extract the digit.

Fitness permitting Bolton and Co should be setting him the challenge of top 5 B&F. It shouldn't be that difficult given how poorly Carlton's list at present drops off from about the best 6-8 players. As iirc the only premiership player on Carlton's list he should leave the jovial lairising to others, should be trying to be a leader for a young group of players unaware of what it takes to go all the way.

I don't know why I see and hear so many Carlton fans denigrate or dismiss things that past players like Walls and like McClure say. They're not afraid to give the harsh but true feedback for the club they bleed for.

Reeks of the truth hurting and from my comfy spot on the couch in 2015 it seemed to me that more often than not McClure's criticisms of Carlton were warranted and accurate and the easiest way to stop that is to improve as a team and Dale Thomas focusing on being a leader at the club rather than morale manager will certainly help.
That's just utter bullshit. Doesn't matter if it's bad luck? Guy seriously dislocates his shoulder (requiring multiple surgeries) 10 seconds into the season. Na **** him, pull your digit out Daisy. Play with one arm, you're the highest paid player ffs :drunk:

No question. He'll be fit and ready to go round 1. I expect he will be top 5 providing he can play the season out.

McClure loves bashing the club. That's all it is. Walls is an absolute flog. Didn't see these guys when we were playing finals but they all suddenly appear when we're struggling. **** them.

Well that first part is completely irrelevant, where did I say 2015? It's time for him to deliver in 2016. So no it doesn't matter if up until now it's been bad luck or bad management, going forward there are no excuses which I might add was also prefaced by a fitness disclaimer. Also he doesn't have his safety net anymore, Mick as his coach. Quite simply it's time to deliver and actually earn his pay packet.

Maybe that's because there was a lot to bash under Mick's reign... I went to our game this year and we were a bog average side and apart from Menzel we brushed 21 navy blue witches hats aside. So I'd say there's been quite a bit to be critical of in recent seasons.

Why shouldn't they be critical? The Carlton they played for were a proud club who were regularly contenders, this Carlton side has been down since the turn of the century and the salary cap sanctions excuse no longer holds any weight.

Carlton have been down for far too long bar a couple of finals appearances in recent seasons (one not even making the 8) and the way it looks atm. Clubs like the dogs and St.K who in the last 6-7 years have been contending in PF's and GF's have bottomed out and are already ahead of the blues again. If I was a former player at the club that'd be something I'd be willing to criticise or analyse.

So the best way to rectify that is to get your better players to lead the charge back up the table and IMO Thomas could do with a little less icing and much more cake to his game

So if he does a shoulder again for instance, that's not good enough? Provided he gets on the park, he'll be fine.

They can be critical all they like. Doesn't mean we need to listen to their shit. As I said, they all disappear when we're doing well but are first to sink the boot in. McClure hated Mick at the club before he was even given a chance.

The Carlton they played for came about due to stealing players from other states and breaking salary caps. The dinosaurs don't understand that that can't happen anymore.

Once again, Thomas will be fine.

They claim to bleed for. Both seem to have sour grapes for the way things ended for them both as coach (Walls) & CHF/Captain (Maclure). More often than not they just sound like bitter old men whose roles were taken over by arguably are two of our greatest coaches & captains Parkin & Sticks, and neither Walls or Maclure come close to either of them

Should have mentioned it last Friday but we announced our financial results for 2015. $500k profit (7th consecutive of the Gale administration and 11th in a row for the club). It's quite a bit less than the $1.3m from last year but we apparently beefed up our footy department spending so we now rank about 8th (up from 11th). Also reportedly lost out on about $300k from Carlton's decision to stop the shared gate arrangement in round 1.

We've got a pretty juicy TV fixture for 2016 so as long as we play decent, next year could be a lucrative one as well. :thumbsu:

Weller has reigned with Freo until 2018. Where are all the AFL reporters saying he would only be at Freo for one more year now?
Is there suppose to be promise to this kid? Seems to be getting a bit of attention with the re-signing for some what of a no name... but I guess it is the off season

A heap of Saints fans said he was going there to play with his brother after his first contract was up. Lead by that idiot Defacto who has now deleted his account.

From what I have seen of Weller he is Freos best first round pick since Stephen Hill. A number of Freo supporters wanted him to play this year when we started to play badly mid season.

Ah okay fair enough. Definitely one you'll want to hold onto then. Only managed the 3 games this year, whats the goal next year ?
