That's not what they were punished for. It was for the lack of governance wasn't it? They can't prove there was a drug violation at all.

Failing to tell them where your players are is a drug violation. It's more broad than simply taking illegal substances.

That's my point. When you say soft for a drug violation, you don't mean the actual taking of drugs?
Pick 18 and 100k is a soft punishment. Very soft.

Soft because they year on year have oodles of points so will hardly miss 1000 and soft because the AFL still financially assist them so who exactly is paying the fine?

Hmmmm. On the one hand the Yarran family are hardly a beacon of professionalism so can we believe one of them.
On the other hand it would explain how you could go from minor premiers to 3rd last so rapidly. Whom to believe :/

It's funny that people actually think he wrote that. It may have come from his account but unless he is seriously the dumbest person on the planet then there is no way he wrote that. Especially considering the club is standing behind him and offering support during his legal battles. Right from the start "looking for a best friend" should tell you automatically it is someone taking the piss. Then if you actually read it out loud it is hilariously stupid.

If he did write it then he is the dumbest piece of crap to ever walk through the doors of a football club.

You say it like footballers have to be smart. There's every chance a footballer could actually be that dumb!

AFL.com.au article ranking the backlines. Essendon ranked 17th :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::handok::handok:
Ok I'll bite, based on their defences who'd you have yourself above?

17. ESSENDON
B: Mark Baguley, Michael Hartley, Matt Dea
HB: David Myers, Michael Hurley, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

"The Bombers' back half has been bolstered dramatically by the return of Michael Hurley and David Myers, and there is also the possibility of redeploying swingman Cale Hooker to a key defensive role. They have also extended the careers of 2016 top-up players Matt Dea and veteran James Kelly, while Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Michael Hartley gained many admirers last year and should continue to improve in a better team. They also have reasonable back-up with Patrick Ambrose, Mitch Brown and Aaron Francis also capable of playing key roles. However, there is no escaping the consensus that the reconstituted Dons lack the overall class of the bulk of their rivals and it remains to be seen whether they can establish the cohesion required to become a miserly mob."

The rest of the comp:

1. SYDNEY
B: Nick Smith, Heath Grundy, Dane Rampe

...

imo, you would be better than Richmond and Collingwood, the Tiges have 1 decent defender and boy he's brilliant so clearly their rating is purely Rance dominant. Collingwood's defence is just bog average. Port probably a tad high for me as that looks average also.

So not bothering to nitpick the best 8-10 defences as they all look decent I'd go:

11: Gold Coast
12: Carlton
13: Fremantle
14: Port Adelaide
15: Essendon
16: Richmond
17: Collingwood
18: Brisbane (although their youth does look good, just very raw atm).

Melbourne, St Kilda, Collingwood, Carlton at least I'd say.

Myers won't be playing defence. No idea what the author was thinking there. Tippa probably won't either.

Add the fact we have Hooker, Brown, Ambrose as talls with McKenna, Gleeson, Dea able to play off half back along with the likes of Kelly, Goddard and Stanton.

Our defence is not an issue for us.
