stevens deserved to go, i dont think waite's was that bad but you can't let one go and not the other.

dangerous tackle is something that the afl need to clarify. im not sure that pinning the arms and driving someone to the ground should constitute a dangerous tackle, when it's usually considered a good tackle.

Waite and Stevens been suspended for tackling with the intent to hurt. They'll now miss their clubs games against the Vixens and Firebirds respectively

Stevens' tackle was a ripper, unlucky he hit his head but it didn't have a sling motion & he wasn't trying to drive his head into the ground. Just looked like he was trying to take him down to the ground as it's more likely to result in HTB when they haven't got any/much control

Waite was gone the moment Lynch went off concussed. The outcome of the tackle plays a big part.

Typical Waite though. Gets injured, kicks a bag in his first game back, gets suspended same game. Rinse and repeat.

but it's not like he tried to. he just tackled him. he didnt sling him. its an accident. you shouldn't be suspended cos of an accident.

He dumped him 'head first' into the turf. Maybe not intentionally but his head still hit the turf first.

With concussion such a vital thing in the current and coming years, they're going to punish it more often than not.

What I don't understand is how Mumford got off for the same tackle/result on Libba the week before.

Two actions v one action. Mumford on Libba was one single motion that dumped the player.
These are two actions, the grapple then the swing element. AFL has made it clear the former is acceptable.

Fair enough. I'd have to have a look at all 3 to agree with that but if that is indeed the case, I've got no problem with that. From memory Mummy just drove him into the ground without a 'sling' as such, right?

Mummy just fell on top of Liba and squashed him with his body weight. Nothing in it.

2001 was dubbed the super draft and it did deliver.

Players with 300 games: Dal Santo (322), Mitchell* (313) & Bartel (305)
Players who could reach 300 games (this season): Kelly* (299), Ablett Jnr* (295), Hodge* (292), Matthew Boyd*"(288)
Players who will require games in 2018: Johnson* (281) & Montagna* (277)

Judd finished on 279 games and only played 20 games in his last 2 seasons, injuries cost him entry to the 300 club
