Matty Boyd has announced his retirement. Should have done it last season.

In worse news, so has Dennis Armfield :'(
Boyd was AA last year. I think he made the right call playing on at the time but it didnt work out. Premiership legend:)

Most games ever from a rookie.

Yeah fair enough. Must have been tempting to go out on top though.

Wonder what he'd choose with the knowledge of hindsight.

Yeah in hindsight it was a fail, but at the time it was the corrcet decision. He had a great season last year.

He hasnt wasted the year though and his leadership has been valuable at Footscray and hes helped develop a few young defenders coming through.

I too am saddened by this. Really like Dennis. Surely he goes into a coaching role?
Yep, as JD said I'd say he hangs around with the womens team. He's done a mountain of work with them.

At any rate, I do hope he sticks around, he's a great guy to have at the club.

Didn't see the presser but saw a headline on FB about his 'love of the game' basically changing as a result of the scandal - felt a bit sorry for him. Seems like it's really worn him down. In a lot of ways, he probably was the face of the players caught up in it - the spotlight being even brighter due to his brownlow.

SJ has called a press conference for tomorrow. Seems like another one that's bowing out.
I'd laugh so hard if Mr Potential Jarrad Waite outlasts all in his draft class of 2001
I guess only playing 2/3 of each season over the past 16 years has given him the chance to outlast them all!
