Dodoro has traded pretty well but it hasn't really gotten their list anywhere. Smith, stringer, Saad and Shiel in the past few years but they still have the same flaws than they had 3 years ago
That's part of the issue. All well and good to get these flashy types but where's the grunt?

He just likes to wheel and deal in trade week but no side will give up a good ball winning midfielder
Lol

Heaps of sides have given up ball winners lately, Collingwood in particular has gone hard for them last 5-6 years (Adams, Treloar, Beams etc)

It's all about targeting the right guy

The way Essendon are going though they might as well target the next ready made decent inside mid free agent though as their talls ain't getting any younger, otherwise what's the point for the likes of Hurley and Hooker who are around 30 now?

2008/9? JPK can't get a game at Hawthorn, moved to Sydney, an absolute bargain and one of the best trades the Swans have ever done, paved the way for other kids to leave other clubs for greater opportunity, seen that happen with GWS alot lately.

Essendon lost the opportunity over the last few years to look around and grab someone reasonably cheap like Jack Steele, who St Kilda are reaping rewards from currently. Parish isn't a bad ball winner, but I feel he's a little undersized. Having a big 6"2-6"3 90kg mid in there will help them so much as that releases Heppell, Zerrett, Shiel etc onto the outside more.

I wouldn't say any of those 3 would solve their problem of being too small in midfield. Steele from the saints is definitely one in recent times that I forgot. JPK back in the day obviously but that was a good decade ago, they were pretty much winning finals back then

Treloar you're probably right with who's a two way runner but generally gets the ball given to him, but Adams and Beams are solid on the inside and much better than who Essendon already has imo, though they're only of average height

Who’d want to be a list manager. Sounds like a stressful night at the draft

Poor fella. Will be made the scapegoat when rebuild v4 fails.

What a reminder of losing 3 prelims by an average margin of 64 points.

Still better than Carlton have managed.

Well yeah, that isn’t in question here. Most teams have done better than Carlton over the last 15 years,

So maybe don't throw shade at other teams when you're on a different level.

North have never rebuilt because they can't afford to. They are smartly swimming between the flags of 7-13th with the occasional blip below or unexpected prelim

Only poorly run clubs need rebuilds.
There are enough good players in the draft to avoid needing to if you’re good at recruiting, developing, coaching and playing the game of football.

Can proudly say we haven’t been bottom 4 in the draft era, 1986 the last occurrence, and never below 12th.

If North do well they may just be able to turn over their 2010-2016 finals side with exciting youth and not need to dip far or for too long

North are so well run that they were the only club to vote for their own merger with Fitzroy in 1996. And then in 2007, the AFL gave them an ultimatum, “Piss off to Gold Coast or die!”.

But tbf to them, that was in the 90s and we can only look to the future. We only hope that Carlton will be better in the next 5 years than they were the last 15 years.
