And the point I don't think you're grasping is it's not a WC v Freo debate with Cripps' decision. Its a Vic v WA debate. Once he decides that he goes wherever it gets done easiest.

He isn't a free agent so has little say in where he goes once the home v Melbourne decision is made. We'll match the offer and force him back to Melbourne for another 2 years which he wouldn't want. So he'll just make the decision of which club based on whichever one can get him home in 2022 and not 2024.

Different for two reasons.

1. you actually could get the deal done. He a) was on rookie wages so a steady increase was still cheap for a player of his calibre and b) you had trade capital. Now you have less of both to offer.

2. Kelly didn’t have the option to stay. A partner desperate to be closer to her family with two autistic sons.

My claim had nothing to with how it gets done as I'm aware in our situation it would be quite difficult to get it done given our tight cap and the previous deal with Kelly that has hamstrung us a little.

My claim was just that Cripps wouldnt want to come home to play with Freo, he would want to come home and play for WCE.

The reasons for that is that he has wasted the first half of his career in a losing situation so would not want to make a big move just to go to another perennial loser. If he comes home he would want to play for WC. That's all I'm saying.
