To put Bradman 1930 series into context. Smith needs 307 this test to equal his 974 in a series.
People will speak about Stokes at Headingley and Botham 81 at Headingley as the greatest innings at the ground.

In the 1930 test at Leeds he scored 334. 309 were scored on day 1 alone.

What’s happened to Warner this series? Do you think he’s finished now?

He’s lucky that there isn’t another standout opener banging down the door for an opportunity, so he continues to play. Ideally, should never have returned.

He’s a classic flat track bully, and has been exposed again outside of his favoured Australian conditions.

Joe Burns?

Well it doesn't help when there aren't many Australian openers playing in the CC. Bancroft also had a decent average in Div 2 before being called upon. Renshaw is over there but struggling - he was unfairly dropped after the Bangladesh tour and hasn't recovered.

Harris was plundering runs in Australia but has failed in England... and after him there is a big gap on run scorers for openers in the shield. Doolan, Hughes and Larkin over 400 runs behind.

Always liked a R L combo at the top of the order. Slater and Taylor was what I grew up with. Langer and Hayden didn't feel the same

Yes true. Should however be picking the best two options, and if they happen to be a left and right hand combination then that’s an added bonus.

Renshaw, almost forgot about him. Been a fan of his since his tour in India a few years ago. I know the numbers have dried up a bit since but he had all the makings of a long term opening batsman.

Even though it was better?

So it ends 2-2, which was about right. Both teams were there to be beat so it’s fitting neither were

1:53 yay or nay is that hitting the stumps?

Embarrassing combination of stupidity and arrogance on display from Handscomb here. You can’t choose to bat for almost 2 days in a 4 day match then complain that the opposition aren’t playing for a result.

Might have something to do with it.
It’s not really arrogance when it’s true. Normally we do beat this pathetic rabble.

we owe the opposition nothing. i hope we go past by 1 run and then declare. why cant we get valuable runs and confidence into our players, especially after victoria did? where was your sporting declaration?

just mad and salty they gave up a 200 run partnership. what a crybaby

He’s coming across as quite entitled in his comments.
No that’s not quite right either. This is actually somewhat common practice.

Captains in the shield often make sporting declarations to help get results because the points system favours wins.

if there’s any truth to what that guy above claims then of course PH is going to be frustrated. Trying to get a result on a dud pitch but an opposing captain not interested. Neither captain is in the wrong
