Agreed. In addition to the Paine run out in the first innings which should’ve been given out imo.

Got to give credit to India overall, even with Yadav down (possibly for the series, calf muscle I heard) they still are managing to get it done.

Warner I’ve read is still touch and go for the third test, obviously he’s a no brainer to include straight back in if fit. He’d be a huge boost especially with getting the run rate going.

It wasn’t just Burns failing again yesterday that was a worrying sign, it was how all at sea he looked. He was out there for what, 10 minutes maybe? And in that time he lost his s**t almost running himself out a couple of times, and should’ve been given out LBW to Bumrah.

No composure at all. Sure they’re a world class attack and there’s a lot of pressure out there. Contrast that to the way Cummins and Green dig in for the task, and back their technique. It reflects really poorly on Burns and he just doesn’t look like he belongs at this level unfortunately.

Some damn good bowling and pressure from India. Without Warner or Smith firing, there’s a lack of someone who can score quickly and keep the runs ticking over.

run rate was pathetic from the aussies, India did bowl well, but we just didn’t find gaps or play shots, let their bowlers dictate way to much and then the pressure kept building and each batsmen just fell into a hole.

With Smith badly out of form, our batting is shocking, especially with no Warner. We really do bank on those 2 making a heap of runs when we play in Australia. Mar us is a very solid bat now too though.

The ICC need to sort out a better test championship and/or ranking system. NZ being ranked #1 is a massive joke.

Played nearly half the amount of tests as England. 8 out of the 11 series in the counted period were at home. Their record in the 3 away series was the white wash defeat to us last year, a win in neutral UAE against Pakistan and a drawn series against Sri Lanka.

Would be good if the ICC could incorporate 6 match test series 3 home & 3 away between say the top 4 sides to properly determine who would win a test series between two even nations. Think the NZ-Aus series would be pretty close and assuming the weather held up we'd get up 4-2 possibly 5-1. Would think that India would get us quite easily 4-2 or 5-1, and would do the same to NZ. England probably worthy of the 4th spot

India don't match up well for Nz conditions at all. Bumrah would go alright but the rest of their bowlers would be average at best. And then even the best batsmen struggle in overcast conditions with Southee and Boult bowling at them. In a 3 test series over there we'd go alright possibly win the series at very least take a test

Nothing wrong with the rankings they have been in place for decades, and at present NZ are doing the best. The Future tours schedule now ensures that all nations play each other over a 5 year period (ICC_Tours.pdf ). This being affected by covid is unavoidable but overall the system works fine.

As for the test championship, that works even better. Points are allocated based around 120 per series and the points per test changes depending on the length of the series so really regardless of length or location each series has equal weight, and given all series between the top 9 nations from 2019 to 2023 are for test championship points that will be that either in the this test championship 19-21 or 21-23 all nations will contest matches for points with everyone else.

Should Warner be playing? Hard to decipher for certain, he looked very ginger in that chase (if you can call it that) to the boundary. If he injures himself further and does more damage, would really have to question how wise it is that he’s out there.
