Australia are due to tour India in September 2022. If Paine survives, that’s plenty of time for him to work on his premeditated abuse and “banter”.

Loving the response on twitter from Ashwin and his wife, quality stuff.

Cant wait for that series and India to inflict some more pain with a full team.

Will be a cracking series and one to look forward to, Australia has a lot to think about before it comes around, and some changes to be made.

Great win by the Indian cricket team, but I hope the aussies return serve and belt them when we tour next year.

You severely under value the role of captain in the field, and ours is abject
I just don’t think one individual is that important in modern cricket. The squad and coaching staff spend hour after hour together analysing the opposition and formulating plans for specific batsmen and bowlers in specific circumstances. Coaches are in contact with the team at the end of an over whenever they want to get a message out there.

Do I think we made mistakes with how we approached the game and decisions around bowlers/field placings? 100%. Unless we are looking for a scapegoat no one individual is responsible for all of that though.

Nice stuff from CA distancing itself from the term 'Australia Day'.

Twice as good as its upset our fu** wit leader.
Indigenous Australians are prominent and talented in both footy codes, Steffenson and Freeman athletics but investmest in indigenous cricket is lax at best. Which makes this nothing more than virtue signalling in the woke era.

Claim moral high ground but do * all to redress problems surrounding inclusion in the game.

Good on the Stars for making their own minds up and not kowtowing to CA and their whims.

But as we know when the heat is on they go to water. Racial abuse by an opponent let go because the might of India intimidated them.

And even then he had a jibe saying CA should focus more on cricket than politics
Yeah, its ok with him using the cricketers when his opinion poll numbers are down like during the bushfires.

Not sure how anyone can find a negative to this.

He’s an embarrassment. Loved Dan Christian (amongst others) getting stuck in as well against our moronic PM, great to see.

But perhaps the biggest question mark came during a press conference on Wednesday, where the national selector revealed that Tim Paine's place as captain and wicketkeeper was never discussed.
Those comments angered the former Australian captain in , who spoke openly on Big Sports Breakfast on Thursday.

“He’s saying that to support him, because that can’t be the case. I’m telling you, if you haven’t spoken about Tim Paine’s wicketkeeping, then you’re blind," he said.
"His keeping was below par, and Painey will be disappointed with his keeping throughout the series. The captaincy would have been spoken about as well – so many past players and fans as well, have questioned Painey’s tactics throughout the series.
"You haven’t questioned his captaincy, and haven’t added anyone whether it be a player or support staff member, to help him - so how does he get better? How does he go to South Africa and improve?

"If you keep doing the same things, you’re going to keep getting the same results. Is Trevor Hohns saying he thinks the tactics were right, and we’ll do the same thing in South Africa and get a different result?
"There is nothing wrong with sticking with Painey, I like it and that’s great. But you still have to help him get better. Tactically he missed a few tricks, and his keeping was nowhere near where it needed to be."
Paine came under fire during the series for his tactics on the field, as well as his sledging towards Indian players and the aforementioned poor keeping.
It led to plenty of speculation about his future as skipper, but the Aussies will be sticking with him for at least the South African tour.

Clarke was also up in arms about the treatment of Matthew Wade, who has been dropped in favour of Travis Head - the same player that was dropped during the India series a few weeks prior.
“What happened to that loyalty that they showed Joe Burns when it came to Matthew Wade? He batted out of position for them, went to the top of the order and did the right thing for the team," he said.
"Gets back (to the middle-order) and I know he didn’t score as many runs as they would have liked, but hang on. One minute we are hearing ‘Joe Burns the incumbent, support support support’ and Matthew Wade out the door.
"Travis Head wasn’t good enough two weeks ago, but now he’s back in and he’s better than Matthew Wade, who was good enough. Why didn’t they think that two weeks ago?

"Has Travis Head played a game since he got dropped to fight his way back into the team? He has scored no runs – he hasn’t gone and scored a double-hundred in Sheffield Shield.
“This is why you hear so many people having a crack at selectors, because they leave themselves open. Explain why Matthew Wade is not in the squad, explain why Travis Head is back in.
"Either they are not telling the truth, or whoever is having these conversations is missing a trick."

Raises good points on Paine but is bang on about Wade and Head

Wade is not in the squad because he shouldn't have been in the first place and they picked a different back up keeper who is better. Head... not his fault there are no shield games to go back to. This is a CA failure for having the big bash run for 10 months.

Check out the cricinfo commentary comment during the 1st innings which aged very poorly

How much do Bangladesh need before declaring. Bangladesh would be kicking themselves that they declared on 8 wickets, another 15-20 runs would have come in handy. Hilarious.

Something along the lines of if WI want to just hand back their test playing status they should. Or something along those lines. Having a go at the side they fielded

Wowser, very unprofessional thing to publish on the cricinfo commentary. They can get a bit over the top at times.

What I read was a part of the commentary talking about a huge WI 1st inning collapse and what Bangladesh might declare on in the 2nd inning, I thought that is what jd2010 was referring to. This is so much worse, weird take.
