Gotta hunch Carlton and Collingwood will have a pretty similar gap after Sunday. Just a hunch...

Hmmmmmmm let me see Thy .......

Well we play Collingwood this weekend so I think that means that the crowd attendance will be the same for both clubs. So would that mean that the gap will remain the same  :D

Nah not sure about that hunch of yours T :p

Beat me to it Aph!
Was going to update this when I got home tonight. Good to see that we are still slightly ahead of Collingwood after 7 rounds.

:thumbsu:

NP HBF :) & funnily enough, we will still be slightly ahead of Collingwood after Rnd 8, it's just a hunch ;)

Had we been ahead in memberships as well would have doubly pleased me

Given the way Collingwood are playing at the moment, and the way their list is looking, we might very well go past them next year. I reckon the Magpies might be in for a lean few years. Like Richmond, this is what happens when you don't get your selections right in the 1st round, and trying to "rebuild" without bottoming out.

Like Richmond, this is what happens when you don't get your selections right in the 1st round, and trying to "rebuild" without bottoming out.

To be fair, they did tank in 2004 to take advantage of the final year of the more rewarding PP rule and they also traded their mercurial but inconsistent star forward for picks the following year.

Prior to that there would have been absolutely no point in bottoming out and trading ageing talent for high draft piks because their recruiting was worse than Richmond's.

Here's a stat that warms my cockles:

Out of Collingwood's 14 top 40 picks in drafts 2000-2004 only 3 are still playing AFL football.

Carlton are 4 out of 7 for the same period.

And look who they selected Yoss, a highly talented, yet highly inconsistent HFF in Thomas, and a one sided, one paced outside mid that does get a bit of the ball, but doesn't have alot of hurt factor in Scott Pendlebury.

I just see a very bleak future for the Magpies over the next few years.

Was funny today, at the game with about 30 minutes to go, it didn't look like a big crowd at all. But for the first bounce had a look around and it was all full, very strange.

not really it was collingwoods home game... they left early!

The pathetic 10,000 'home' game at Carrara against Fremantle didn't do our crowd average any good, but it's good to see the excellent average so far this year.

And the Collingwood Vs Carlton crowd was fantastic. It was almost as high as the over-hyphed Anzac Day game between Collingwood and Essendon. Does anybody reckon that the Anzac Day game has become stale and it's time for some other teams (e.g. Carlton) to be given a go?

Yeah, nah we don't need the Anzac day plug to get the crowds
