Very happy with that. It means the pressure on Steele is eased a little. There's been plenty of captains who have gotten the job and struggled with the role at first. This gives Steele a season to work with Geary and get used to the role without being on his own. Leadership roles are important, but it's equally important that Steele's form remains very good. This also gives them options post Geary. If Steele is suited to being a co captain with someone else, they can promote Howard next year. If Steele excels and is suited to being sole captain, then he can just do it on his own post Geary.

Like that. Steele gets some support going into the role, but will still be able to make it his own on the field if Geary might not always be there.
Good choices for VCs at both ends of the ground as well. Have been hearing all along what a leader Doogs is, glad to see him earn that spot so quickly.

Good decision.

Club not turfing the current well liked Captain after a horrific injury just before the season 'Strength through Loyalty' although it may have been justified (and the easy way out considering he may be borderline 22 anyway)

Succession plan in place.

Club gets a great leader who can direct from the guts and is respected across the league meaning no 'temporary' captain's in place and week to week conjecture over the 'C' moniker and coin toss is eliminated.

Clear direction.

Well done.

Congrats Steele. This is a well deserved appointment. I'm not a huge fan of co-captains, but in this scenario it makes a lot of sense.

This will allow Steele to find his feet and take some pressure of being captain of him while also being able to be the main man while Gears is injured. And all expectations would be that he becomes sole captain next year.

Do we really need two captains and two Vice captains? It’s overkill. There’s a leadership group for a reason.
It doesn't bother me either way. Sydney have adopted similar mantras of multiple captains and/or vice-captains over the years. If it gives some extra authority for Howard and Membrey to take ownership of performance/culture then it can't hurt.

Good moves all round. Doogs and Members at each end makes oh-so much sense, and fair tribute for Gears being able to hold the position till retirement. He's held the fort during dark days and easing the load on Jack will be valuable in it's own right.
5 stars..

And it's really good for Doogs as he has not been in the system long. Must've shown real leadership

Its brilliant.
Leadership all parts of the ground, and a bit like GTs ideas, creates many leaders in a team.
Interesting, but good choice, that Ross is no longer a vc in my opinion.
