To the tune of, 'The Hurricane' by Bob Dylan
Here comes the story of the hurricane,
The man the authorities came to blame
For somethin that he never done.
Put out for 7 WEEKS!!!, but this year he could-a been
The Champion of the World!.
Jeff Farmer lying there, everyone can see
No witnesses, no vision, no footage on TV..
'I didnt do it', says Bakes, and he throws up his hands
I was only stopping and propping, I hope you understand.
"I saw him hit him", says Voss, then he stops;
"Hmm, maybe this'll get me in good with the cops".
And so the AFL weighs in
And they arrive on the scene with their corrupt tribunal
on a cold, cold Melbourne night.
Meanwhile, far away in another part of town
Steven Baker's busy training at the Linen House ground.
Number one contender for the 'best tagger' crown
Had no idea what kinda s*** was about to go down.
The AFL drag him over to face the tribunal
Just like the time before and the time before that.
In Linton St thats just the way things go.
If you're Bakes you might as well not show up at the game
'less you wanna cop the blame.
Hurricane Baker was falsely tried.
The crime was stopping running, no-one testified.
The judge said Bakes would've got off if he of lied
And the newspapers, they all went along for the ride.
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fools hand?
To see him obviously framed
Couldnt help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game.
Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While Bakes sits like buddha in a coach box cell
An innocent man in a living hell.
Thats the story of the hurricane,
But it wont be over till they clear his name
And give him back the time hes done.
Put out for 7 WEEKS!!!, but this year he could-a been
The Champion of the World!.
