Thanks for tagging me in here, it feels very homely. I'll literally drink all most everything. I am partial to good single malts and I love a Venezuelan Rum called Diplomatico. It's everything you could love and more! neat!!!!!

So in a genuine case of serendipity (fu** you crown "can't bring your own booze into a hotel room" bullshit), I now have a can of each Biggie Juice and Hazy Balter MIKE85 & DanWCE, I shall let you know my thoughts if their worth a dime or not.

They are basically the same!

Hazy has more aroma, Biggie is easier to drink.

I call a tie.

Any other sipping Rum recco's? I'm partial to the Mt Gay XO as a sipper. Probably more bourbony styled that the diplomatico.

Hang on, Crown stopped you taking beers into the room? I do that every time I go there. First thing I do is empty the fridge of their s**t and fill it with mine

Yep, at a party in a $3k a night room, hosts only serving spirits so I call a mate still on his way and ask him to grab 4 random 4 packs for us to share. He shows up and I meet him in the foyer and we walk to the lifts and the security guard stops us and tells us to check the beers as there's no BYO - yet they don't confiscate the bottle in the gift bag my mate is holding for the host. So now I have $80 of beer that I had to pick up from the concierge on my way out at 5:30am on Sunday blind as *.

Anyway just means I had Biggie and Hazy to compare side by side.

Yeah I'm fairness I've always been checking into the room and had them just stashed in luggage with shoes etc. Not particularly going out of my way to hide them but not arriving with a mixed cube in a wine box type deal. The ridiculous thing is if you had the box wrapped in gift paper they wouldn't have given a s**t.

And there's nowhere to get a good beer at the Crown complex so they essentially force you to have crafties in the room.

Rockpool supposedly have a couple of craft taps, but yes it's very slim pickings!

To be fair, if I was in a 3k room I assume I'd be doing coke off a strippers backside, not drinking beer

I agree that Biggie and the Balter are very similar. I had a few Hazys first then the Biggie, and the biggie didn’t go down as well. Might’ve been the same story had I done it the other way round, and I’d be saying the Biggie was better. I like them both, but was surprised cause I never thought anything would take the spot of Biggie in my mind. For the alcohol volume, taste and price, it’s pretty hard to beat still. It’s amazing that I consider $60 odd for 16 beers as a good price, but that’s craft life I guess.

No clue where’s it’s located but I’ve had a bunch of SA beers from Little Bang brewery recently and they were amazing. Really top notch drops and have seen around 10+ types at liquor stores in my area so plenty of a range to choose from

First thing my son pulls out of the fridge when we got to Adelaide was a Little Bang India Red Ale.
Interesting beer, can't wait to taste more of their offerings.

Got a bit over beer lately. Happens every now and again. Reached for a carton of Boston Tingletop ginger beer for Xmas day instead. Such a great midstrength. Pairs wonderfully with spiced rum, as well, if you want to turn the dial up a notch.

Boston just released a double IPA at their vic park joint if that’s of interest. They also had a strong pale on tap which I’ve never seen before (it’s my local drinking hole). Probably the best beer I’ve had from them

Is that the double hazy? Coz I've had that. Keep seeing the strong pale when I go in, definitely have to give it a go.
