Looking at our list at the moment we seem to have managed to find some genuine first 23 talent in the bargain basement which helps out massively with our list turnover.

Logan Evans - MSD
Tom Cochrane - Rookie draft
Ewan Mackinlay - MSD
Harrison Ramm - MSD
Mitch Zadow - PSP
Josh Lai - PSP

We have others that were cheap like Watkins and Liddy (and even DBJ if we go back far enough) but these were the youngest ones involved in our most recent list turnover in the last few years.

Since the AFL is going to screw us over with the NGA's & FS's, hopefully we have a few more stashed away in the bush leagues out of sight of other clubs.

About time we started doing a Stephen Wells. If the club wants to copy a lot of what Geelong does right, then it needs to recruit cheap and relatively cheap mature age players from state, country and metro leagues like Wells has for the last 20 years or so.

Yes he has had lots of 20-23 year old misses, and some like Dary Fort was taken as a 23 year in the rookie draft only played 8 games for Geelong, but is a dual premiership player for Brisbane.

They also have been doing great trading since 1999 when trades for Mooney '99 Ottens '04 as well as players for picks got players that helped build their dynasty.

If the Academy changes are implemented as expected, we'll lose 2 picks, our natural first and probably Carlton's second, then go into deficit for next year.

So we'll be in from the second round on, just like a normal draft.

And that's before we do any trading of picks to try and better our hand.

The List Management Team has done really well recently.

Our first lot of MSD picks were Jed McEntee, Brynn Teakle and Quinton Narkle.

I also like that we get to take a look at some guys who train with us in the preseason and see how they go and pick them up in the SSP or whatever it is.
