Warm up match, i would take even less from it than I would from the Nab cup
Didn't see the line ups but it depends on how close to full strength the Indian side was, particularly the bowling lineup. If that was their first choice attack then the innings by Maxwell and Warner do mean something.

I thought they had a chance when Ishant Sharma pulled out of the side.

I remember SBS actually having a licence to show the cricket...... once:rolleyes:
Twas probably one of the greatest Ashes series in history also.....shame we lost. It definitely affected my year 12 results, staying up til 330 every night watching it.

It's because of that series that the commerical FTA networks will never let an away Ashes series slip again.

Possibly the greatest series of all time, just incredibly well contested. Shame we did lose though.

I know, I thought of saying that beforehand.

The Ashes no matter where it's played has to be shown on free to air due to anti-siphoning laws, one of the greatest things Kerry Packer stood up for imo.

Basically everything Packer did for cricket was brilliant, and sure he made a shitload of money from it, but that was because he was engaged enough with the game to revolutionise things. Too many administrators now want their 'Packer moment', problem is they judge it all on dollar signs, they didn't realise the success came from improving the quality of the product and the coverage, the dollars came later.

Wish the AFL did things differently and gave the battlers a go.

I've been extremely critical of their decision to give Carltank a truckload of prime time free to air this year and they most likely will stink it up, when Brisbane and the Dogs won the same amount of games yet get only a small handful of Saturday night exposure and nothing on Fridays.

It's great to see them give Port more games though, I see there's a free to air Saturday night game involving Port and Sydney early in the season, Channel 7 need to show more of these neutral interstate games and not boring irrelevant, mid table "Big 4" all the time. What Channel 10 did on Saturday nights was great imo, wasn't just Essendon vs Carlton, Richmond vs Collingwood etc every Saturday night, they'd show Showdowns, Derbies, Brisbane vs Sydney, WCE vs Sydney etc and they generally were great close matches.

It helps when many of those years those were intriguing clashes due to ladder positions. Also, 10 didn't get much of a say, that was all AFL scheduling.

But why have they changed course to always show at least 1 Victorian club in the 4 games they show a week? Anyways...... their product won't improve imo if they don't rectify a few things.

Because people will still watch. AFL has a monopoly on winter sports.

At least summer we have cricket and a-league.
