For all the Xavier boys yes; but I'm not that way inclined.

For the girls; is the pope a catholic.

For the Xavier boys? It's SKOBs where they have to wear shorts in the shower in case they drop the soap.

And as you think Steve Mckee is sexy, I don't know that your statement about the girls has much cred:D

I should read the whole thread but what the ****..are you talking abut Maroubra?

I live at Shelly and go in everyday...you got your pick of the surf, the calm water of SHelly past the Bower or the Harbour. It's cold but very clear lately and since the winds have died down I will probably snorkel today as there are a lot of fish about.

Excuse me if sarcasm escapes you, but Maroubra had quite the reputation for trouble. The 'Bra boys' were infamous with their postcode tattoos and a propensity for violence out in the surf. I stay there now and it's a great place, I have no idea why your so hot under the collar, but maybe you should have some idea of what someone is talking about before you load the bullets.
I like 'The Bra'.......... There is that what you wanted to hear?

Yeah Maroubra has the reputation of being one of the more violent surf areas in NSW.... It's localism is famous amoungst surfers and fights are not uncommon. To say that it's not is just plain ignorant! But then again, I've had many a surf there untroubled at all, just depends on the days you are there I suppose, everywhere has 2 sides.

First time I ever ventured into tye surf in Sydney was at Maroubra late 1994.

Didn't think I was doing anything wrong, but after a couple of good body runs, two blokes on borads come over to me and one of them pulls a knife and tells me to 'stop cutting in' or he'll stick the knife up my arse.

Didn't even really think I was cutting in either, I was body surfing and these jokers were 50 m away in a different set of breakers alltogether.

Needless to say - I haven't surfed at Maroubra since, just go to Mahon Pool for a little swim every now and then.

Surf culture in Sydney is most definitely not pot smoking hippies out on boards, at one with the ocean and spreading words of peace and love - nooooo sireee

Its all aggro, knives, fists, threats and bashings - and god help you if you ever cut in - your dead (man).

so much for the 'surf culture'

and on the topic - I like to body surf heaps and Sydney's beaches are the best mate.

Some good ones I've tried over the years :

Ulladulla
Bateman's Bay
Port Kembla Beach (one of the coasts best kept secrets)
Bombo (beware the killer rips)
Cronulla
North Cronulla
Lady Garvie (RNP)
Coogee
Tamarama (its also a bit of 'beat' so watch yourself :p )
Bondi (tanned hard bods only - fashion police patrol this beach !)
North Bondi
Manly
Curl Curl
Narrabeen (best of the Northern ones)
City Beach (newcastle)
Terrigal

its all good fun - get into it !

cheers

You NSW people take your surfing way too seriously. Its called GET A LIFE, why would you think of pulling a knife on someone?

Yeah, pulling a knife on someone is a bit extreme to say the least, but it is more of a power trip and intimidation than a regular NSW surfy act. The surf culture at Maroubra is more akin to a gang. And yeah, maybe the surfers in question should get a life, or more appropriatly wake up to themselves.

Heard some bad stuff about Maroubra and the 'Bra Boys' but a lot of these guys are all talk and no action. Only big in a group - guess thats the whole gang mentallity thing.

Thats what i love about football, and cricket, and any sport really, one on one, and you find out who the pub talkers really are.

I can't remember how many breaks I have surfed over the years....

   I was just asking whether Bra was short for Maroubra 'cause I hadn't read the middle part of the thread.
Than I described the beachs I go to here at Manly.

Sounded to me, and others, that you were telling me that Maroubra is nothing like I described and that I know nothing.

As it's a mix up, I take back my agression.
