I think he played really well on Tarrant and Richo the last two weeks.

Maybe he is the real deal. If he can keep a few more key forwards quiet in the next few weeks, I reckon he will be a really good defender.

He's definately starting to hit his straps. Playing very good football, and deserves the cudos he's gettings. Woosha has definately brought his career back from the dead!

That's my boy :D

I reckon all he needs is a long enough stretch in the team to iron out the clangers and he's our Milli successor.

Yeah for sure, its the only real problem in his game! Im sure alot of it is nerves and such. Once he plays a few more games and gets a bit of confidence up the clanger count will decrease.

All he really needed was an opportunity. We've seen Haynes at FF for over 5 weeks now and Woosha has persisted with him. Glass should be given the same chance

It was good to see that Craig O'Donoghue had his eye on the ball. Gave Glassy a player rating of four, just above Trent Carroll who got a three.

Needless to say, I'm severely tempeted to use a rolleyes smilie.

Is it wise bringing Milli into the game? Lloyd doesn't lead in straight lines, and often plays quite far up the ground. I dunno if Milli would have the stamina to keep up with him. Lucas is another tough nut, Lynch would be best suited to him. Hird? Lets just play a tough tagger on him (Chick?) and minimise his impact rather than stop him.

Will Fletcher and Ramanauskas be back this week? Mercuri also suffered a concussion, so he's no certainty either.

Totally agree, I think this would be the perfect opportunity for Lynch to prove his worth. It was Lucas that really won the game for the bombers in that final last year and I would think that Woosha has had a real good think about how we can curb Lucas's influence. We actually matchup ok on the bombers, its not to tough. We can really exploit them in the ruck (once again), its well documented that the bombers dont really have a good ruckmen. Our midfield is much classier and quicker than theirs. The main thing to watch will be Sheedy and whether he brings Hird, Lloyd, Lucas and Fletcher, Ramanauskas and Mercuri in. He's a sly old fox and he will try and upset woosha's plans (naturally). You can bet your bottom dollar that if any of them are named in the emergency list, they'll play and if there named in the team they'll be left out of the side.

So in other words, Glass has been a real pain to his opposition forwards over the last couple of weeks?? I reckon Glass should stay in the team until some cracks start appearing in his game. :p

Ok, they were shockers but not as bad as the one-liner Tim Gossage came out with on FoxFooty the other night!!

"Glass would have been shattered if that was a goal"... Tim Gossage, West Coast vs Richmond

Carroll and Glass have both stepped up well so far this season. Im not sold that they are the replacements for Jako and Milli but so far so good.

Carroll could actually find himself on the outer ... or at least behind Glass now after last weekends performance.

Woosha has shown huge faith in Carrol (ala Haynes).

Carrol has started to play with more confidence and i think Woosha has him in his long term plans for the backline

he has really stepped up a gear in the last week or two, particularly on Tarrant.

He played well on Richo, but Richo kicked 4, so in the end you'd have to say Richardson get the better of him, but only just.

Carroll and Glass are competent replacements for Milli and Jako, but neither will go on to be legends of the game I wouldn't think, but perhaps Woosha is not worrying about defence, and more worrying about attack which is a good sign.

I'd rather play a brand of trying to score more points than the opposition, rather than trying to concede less points than the opposition.

Richo kicked 4, but I think only 2 of those were with Glass as his opponent. Not that relevant anyway, as Richo didn't get much delivery.
The way our midfield is playing at the moment, there's probably no better time to give Glass an extended run, as he's unlikely to be put under relentless pressure. Hopefully Woosha can put in the effort to manage his opponents and playing time ala Carroll.

Was that the same article that gave Wirra a rating of 4?

I stopped reading those ratings then.......

Glass will be a good player for us - will be in the running for McIntosh's spot when he retires (which will probably be the end of this year).

One nitpick was, he pushed up the ground when we had the ball, which is all well and good, but he was hovering in our forward 50 and there was a turnover and Richmond cleared the ball. He sprinted 100 meters back down to defence, but Richardson had marked and goaled.

there was one Richardson goal (to the right of screen) where Glass left him to challenge the man taking the uncontested mark, just failed to hold him up long enough. Not his fault, IMO he did the right thing in trying to force the contest.

Now, he could have just stayed on Richo and let the guy waltz in for an open goal, then he would have only had one kicked on him the whole night, sounds even better eh?

He was very good. Let him play.

Of the two, Glass has the tools to be a very good backman. Carroll may have a slight edge now, but you'd assume this is basically as good as it gets for him. Atm, Carroll is playing serviceable, okay football, but he'll never be a star.

As for Glass, he certainly appears to have turned a corner this year. Last time I popped the '92 premiership tape into the vcr, I couldn't help but notice that at that early stage of his career, McIntosh really wasn't anything to write home about- he was okay in the one-on-ones, but periodically left his man and got burnt on the rebound- in the first half of the GF, Billy Brownless towelled him good and proper. The point I'm getting at is that you can't draft a FB of Milli's calibre, you develop someone, and very long term at that- we're probably talking 1-2 years as the #1 FB in the team before they learn all the tricks of the trade. I didn't rate Glass at all last year, but this time around there are a lot of signs that he has gone to the next level. I've no doubt that by next year, he'll be our full time fullback.

when the glass is half empty i see him this way ...

Glass really only looks bad when he is unsure of his disposal, he seems to get himself into multiple minds about what to do, and ends up rushing himself, or something along those lines, directly effecting the quality of that disposal. That's when I'm being picky.

Will this be solved by confidence (from regular football?), or will it stick with him for his career, like Gardy's kicking?

And the real question ... Will Goassge and co. use my terrible pun in their next telecast? It was the only one they missed. *Insert Campbell and Gossage ****ing themselves with the mic's off here*.
