Toast The Beer Thread

Bought the tap king too, probably a bit of a gimmick. It is a novelty though i suppose. Ive only had the JS Golden Ale and the James Boag Premium. Both very nice, but probably no different if you poured from a stubbie into a glass.

Have tried a few wheat beers lately and found they agree with me. goodisons in particular has a nice one. pity to get it at a decent price involves a trip to their maclaren vale brewery.

also found a nice one when i was in new zealand as well. all the rest of the wheat beers ive found since though have been decent to so so in comparision. usually at the pub ill just look at what pints are on sale. found i like the stuff that doesnt leave you feeling bloated after a few such as the pales often do. not a big fan of german / euro beers either with their heavy fruity taste. i want to drink my beer in the sun with beads on the bottle and go ahhhhhhhhh. thats the stuff.

wont touch w/end vb though, it tastes pretty bad to me.

I'd say carton to twin keg pack prices, carton slightly cheaper, plus you probably get more froth and head with the tap king so that's less precious precious drinkable beer

I love the wheat beers. Love them. German in me. Last time i went down to watch my team, me and the Mrs decided to go into the hills, Lobethal. They have a nice brewery. We had a Hefeweisein or six. Then back to Grumpys and smashed a wood fired pizza. And some more beers

You guys have got some good botiquie brewerys, and good food.

I really do not think VB is that bad, it's at least as good as a superdry/extra dry/other mainstream beer marketed toward young males

Except maybe Carlton Dry, that's awesome

Ok feel free to call my cynical, but how can the tap kings refills be more expensive then a cartoon??

A 24 pack has 24 glass bottles in it as opposed to two plastic little kegs, surely has to be cheaper to produce and fill?

The 24 cartoon has 24 10cent deposit cans / bottles in it, which the brewery pays out for refund. Again the plastic bottles don’t have this!

Plus the $30 something dollar out lay in the first place for the pourer....

So when i first saw it i thought beauty should work out more beer cheaper price and was keen but now not so!

Why the **** is Lionel Richie on a 2013 beer commercial unless that all the marketers could come up with was retro irreverence, hence Lionel?

Tap King is all marketing, but if it's more practical then all parties beneficial. Most of your Heinekens, Sapporos, Peronis, Becks and whatever other international swill there is are all contract brewed in Oz at the same breweries that make West End and VB. So really there's no real reason why there should be much difference in price.

Personally I think support a local, or national microbrewery. Brewboys, and Lobethal Bierhaus are the two best in SA for me. So much more flavour and variety then the big boys. Even James Squire plays it safe, but again it's all marketing. Remember when the Golden Ale tasted decent? Depends what you're into though I guess.

Try out the Woolshed Judas Dark.

My mate is the head brewer and its a delish drop.

Took a speedboat with some friends to the Woolshed from Renmark. Great location and setup. I really liked their coffee stout, I had about 8 and could not sleep that night. Nice people there too.

But they wont be making it from me as the advanatages dont out weigh the extra cost.
Slightly cheaper, which it should be, and i would buy it.

Amazeing marketing! Most times you see someone drink a beer in the movies they will be drinking that. $44 a carton at the moment. Really???? I have the stuff sittin there at home if anyone wants something it's either that or Superdry at the moment. To watery for me.
