That oldchestnut hey Esti.

Say what? Nicko doesn't look anything like me - unless he is also lucky enough to be a dead ringer for Brad Pitt.

I just finished a sample 6 pack a friend brought back from the Bootleg Brewery in Margs for me.

Sou' West Wheat
Hefe
Tom's Amber Ale
Wil's Pils
Settlers Pale Ale
Raging Bull

Really flavoursome beer all of them. The Pils and the Raging Bull were probably the two standouts for my tastes (with the latter having the added advantage of being 7.1%)

Yeah my bad Esti, it was a bit late :/

I confuse you two sometimes, mainly because your are both the only regular posters who aren't twats.

Just getting through a 6 pack of James Squires Stow Away IPA tonight. I went down to the local and looked for something different and it must have been in the inner 'Docker' in me that made me grab the nautical themed beer.

Goes all right for an IPA if you like that style beer.

Finally found the little creatures 'big dipper' in a 4 pack.
AermvxMCAAAd8eo.jpg:small

Not bad value for $20 for the 4 pint size bottles from 1st Choice over here in Melbourne.

4 pints? 4x 568ml? 20$? Is beer this expensive in Australia? That would be a case of very expensive beer over here or three cheap ones...

Anyone know where you can get decent tasting alcohol free beer around the place? Tried that Coopers birrel shit a while back, but it tasted horrible.

Went a bit too hardXmas so decided to make up for it with a month off the sauce, but man having an ice cold glass of tap water after the excercise really doesn't do it for me.

Just googled and found this:

Does Alcohol Free Beer actually mean No Alcohol ?

I'd rather drink water than non-alcoholic beer, but I guess whatever reduces the meat spins is all good eh? :D

I'd rather drink water than non-alcoholic beer

Definitely. As much as I enjoy a nice cold beer I'll be honest and admit I wouldn't drink it if it didn't have alcohol in.

And I certainly wouldn't sit there and drink 10 of them in a row.

Non-alcoholic beer is for the kids anyway.

Back when I was living at home I would occassionally pop down to the local Woolies and get the non-alcoholic Coopers and give them to my younger brothers (who are well underage).

Yeah that Coopers stuff is rotten.

I dunno, it's nice to sit down with a beer (even if no buzz :( ) when on your lunch break occasionally.

I got a nice surprise when I went in to pick up my regular allotment of cold Little Creatures this evening. The local chain bottolo (BWS) have a free beer glass giveaway going, with two free beer glasses for every cold six pack you buy of "craft beer" (read anything slightly better than Resch's, Toohey's Old or XXXX).

Normally I'm not a fan of these promos as the give away glasses tend to be poor quality or awkward mini-glass sizes - and I initially said no thanks - but young lady behind the counter insisted, so I took them to be polite - and glad I did, these are proper quality, well crafted, heavy weight full size glasses - close to this type:

Best of all - they hold a full bottle and a half of Pale Ale - so fewer trips to the fridge are needed!!

Dunno if the offer is only over here on the East Coast, but might be worth checking out to see if you can get a few - I think the promo only runs for two weeks from yesterday.

In the last two years I've become a Guiness drinker.

It's funny in my early 20's I hated the stuff, only drank it when doing a round of pub golf...Suddenly one day while drinking with an Irish crew I gave it another shot and have never looked back. Love the stuff and actually noticed the hangover on a pure guiness night isn't as bad as expected.

The problem now is the ridiculous price I've encountered in Perth and abroad for it.

Like Guiness, too. But it is not the beer to drink all night for me.

Over here in Sydney there are a few pubs in The Rocks that sell Guinness for $6.50 a pint, which while may not be dirt cheap, but surprisingly cheap compared to what you pay in Perth and a few other places in Australia and it's cheaper than some of the schooners the same bars serve.

I popped into Cellarbrations in Carlisle yesterday to get the boys at work a carton - being the good boss that I am :)

These guys seriously have the best range of beers around !

http://www.cellarbrationscarlisle.com.au/

I decided to buy a couple of bottles for myself to top up the bar fridge. The guy asked what sort of beers I liked and we had a chat about the different beers they had in stock.

They do tasting every month with last month's tasting being beers from French Canada with food to suit.

He said that they are trying to negotiate a night at Greenhouse where the food will match the beers and may include some dished cooked with beer :thumbsu: He was very knowledgeable without being a beer w***er.

I bought a couple of bottles of MAD BREWERS HOPPY HEFE 640ML which is a limited edition. He said that The Generous Squire has it on tap at the moment. Have not had it yet.

Also bought a bottle of Samuel Smith Stingo Yorkshire Ale for no other reason than to have some beer from back home.

I have joined the club and will try to get to some of the tasting nights but time will be short this year with my wife and I both working full time and studying part time while having a 4 year old !!!!

Beer at pubs in Perth is a rip off in general. At least The Generous Squire has nice beers, albeit overpriced.
