I concurr with the TEDS statement. Drank more than my share as a young fella, but I'm not sure if I'd touch them if given to me for free. Horrible, horible beer.

(Kava is pretty cool - for those who haven't tried it imagine a very mild marijuana in a muddy tasting liquid form)

Mmm.. sounds delightful. I think I'd need a few VBs before hitting the kava. :D

Correct.

On a bucks night some comedian pissed in a TED and gave it to me. I didn't notice the difference:mad:

Genuine lol.

Still, at least TEDs/urine has a flavour. This is something completely absent from Coronas if you remove the wedge of lemon.

Shit.. just get a bottle of soda water and stuff a lemon wedge in it. Same flavour at a ****teenth of the price.

No alcohol in it though.. but as my old sponsor always used to say before I glassed him, you don't need alcohol to have a good time right?

Fosters cops a bum rap. Bought a long neck and chucked it (1 stubby is just pointless) in the freezer to sit down and watch the new season of Dexter, and it tastes allright ice cold. Better than Crownies and Carlton Draught.

But yeah, back to Dexer. ****ing so much better without that shitty Julia Stiles character, and that ******ed wannabe Anthony Robbins guy from last season.

Sampled (or drank copious amounts) of Kona Longboard when i was on Oahu the other month.. very nice drop.. although i think its social standing over there is the equivalent of our TEDS, Carlton Draughts etc etc.

The cost of living in general over here is an absolute joke. Living in Germany for 6 months, I'd live on 5 euro (roughly $7? AUD) a day food wise fairly comfortably, but over here you would be going over that in a single meal.

40c Euro for a 500ml beer, vs $3 for a 350 ml beer over here.
1 Euro for a shot of tequila v $7-8 over here.
1.20 for a proper bakery style loaf of bread v $4-5 over here.

It's an absolute piss take how expensive everything is.

You get 350ml beers for $3 here??? Wow, let me at it.

Yeah I get you though, Germany is awesome for drinking, eating, whatever, just cheaper and a shitload better quality. It's so depressing going from drinking 70c 500ml awesome beers to coming home and paying $8 for shitty aussie beers.

Hey all...

Got a few micro brewery beers that i highly recommend that we sell at the pub I work at over here in Melbs...

True South Red Truck Larger
... Similar to Mountain Goat High Tail Ale but
red in color with some great toffee and coffee undertones. Not too hopy and very moreish.

Holgate Galaxy IPA... Serious hops, and bloody fantastic. Probably the best IPA i have ever had.
So good the brewery only allocates between 1 and 3 kegs per selected pubs.
If you find it on tap get it in and around your mouth!

We also sampled some of the Moo brew beers yesterday, the pale ale is lovely, will go down a treat over summer.
Stay away from the pilsner and the Hefeweizen wheat beer they have, they are pretty shit.

Finally Thunder Road... they are marketing heavily over here in Melbourne.
Their pale larger in my opinion is crap - tastes like a sweet carlton draught.
EWWW
One of the blokes who is the brewer/ owner used to own the pub I work at and as a good gesture to him my boss has the pale larger on tap... its rubbish!
However we tried there version of VB the other day - GAG worthy... BUT
They did provide us with a sample of an APA.... Bloody fantastic...
If it makes it to the keg I will be sure to let you all know of its name and weather it was a lucky batch or worth your hard earned.

Cheers
Sam

Well in 1995 when a lived in Australia the prices felt about the same. Did it change so much?

But houses were incredible cheap in Australia, you just get a flat for the same money over here...

The Holgate offerings are awesome - stayed there winter last year.

had a seasonal porter ?empress?, nice and malty, similar to a Monteiths' Winter Ale but with more body.

also a had a small batch 'Hopinator' while we were there, made their UXB taste tame in comparison.

Yeah, but the amount of 'sex kino' around the place would bring the local market value down would it not? :D

Man I miss Hamburg and the beer over there. :(

I've got a mate who I am convinced has moved to Berlin purely for the price and quality of the beers. Speaks no German, has made no attempt to speak German, earns allot less than he did back at home..Yet has never been happier.

The short explanation is he likes it when women shit on his chest. Deutscheland's favourite past time, and the only reason you go there for other than work.

Don't ask me how I know, but I know.

It's true.

This one time, in Hamburg, when we dropped into one of those stores Hamburg is known for, my mate bought a copy of 'The Shizte Family' He said it was for his mate back home. A likely story.
