The Saints - Stranded / Eternally Yours / Prehistoric Sounds
The Clash - The Clash/ Give em enough rope / London Calling
The Stooges - The Stooges / Funhouse / Raw Power

Funnily enough in all cases they are the first three by each band.

Agree with Metallica Ride, Master, Justice and Iron Maiden Number, Piece, Powerslave.

Also any combination of Led Zeppelin 1,2,3,4, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti. That's a pretty awesome string of 6 right there.

I'll add:

Motörhead: 1916, March ör Die, Bastards
The White Stripes: De Stijl, White Blood Cells, Elephant
The Who: Tommy, Who's Next, Quadrophenia
Rainbow: Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Rising, Long Live Rock n Roll
Green Day: Warning, American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown
Black Sabbath: Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Born Again
Accept: Restless and Wild, Balls to the Wall, Metal Heart
Uriah Heep: Look at Yourself, Demons and Wizards, The Magician's Birthday
Saxon: Strong Arm of the Law, Denim and Leather, Power and the Glory

I tried to find a string of 3 Kiss albums but Rock and Roll Over kept getting in the way!

I don't think The Beatles' three in a row can be surpassed. Also I'd throw Dylan's Brining It All Back Home-Highway 61 Revisited-Blonde on Blonde. But I spose the title said "band". Maybe being a solo artist makes it more impressive - I'm glad Elliott Smith got a mention as well.

I'm going for seven - Eurythmics:

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
Touch
1984 (For the Love of Big Brother)
Be Yourself Tonight
Revenge
Savage
We Too are One

All seven made the top ten in both the UK and Australia.

Not sure this is the criteria being used in this thread.......otherwise Pink or Taylor Swift nails it. A few of those albums got 2 or 3 star ratings on Allmusic (admittedly not always spot on with its ratings), and probably only made those top 10s on the back of the previous albums. Great band in the day though.

Signals
Grace Under Pressure
Power Windows

Moving Pictures was great, but their next 3 albums became the zenith in their Synth Rock period!

Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun, Welcome To Sky Valley, ...And The Circus Leaves Town
^^^ Yes, oh hell yes.

Tool - Aenema, Lateralus & 10,000 days
Led Zep 2, 3 & 4

Great albums ! Not just because Freo_Tammy is my wife

Bruce Springsteen

  • Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. (1973)
  • The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle (1973)
  • Born to Run (1975)
Each rated 5 stars by All Music Guide. In fact, Springsteen's first eight albums have an average rating of 4.88/5 on the AMG website, with Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) and Tunnel of Love (1987) being the only ones to score less than 5 stars ("just" 4.5 each)

Bruce has always been awesome. Greetings is my favourite debut album and boy- did he follow it up???

Can't go past The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A.

Yep - A lot of Radiohead haters out there, but theses are quality albums.

Frank Sinatra - Songs For Young Lovers
Swing Easy
In The Wee Small Hours
Songs For Swinging Lovers - Yeah thats 4 but they are amazing albums !

Neil Young - On The Beach
Tonights the Night
Zuma
American Stars and Bars
Comes a Time
Rust Never Sleeps - Yeah thats 5 but it's Neil Young.

Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue
Sketches of Spain
Directions

It is hard with jazz albums as jazz artists play on other jazz artist's albums so Miles featured on Cannonball Adderly stuff in between these, but they are the headline albums during that period. Similarly, Neil Young did stuff with CSN&Y and Steve Stills during this period but I only put his solo albums.

Agree with Floyd, Sprinsteen, The Church and White Stripes mentioned previously.

For another Aussie band, how about:

Triffids
Born Sandy Devotional 1986
In the Pines 1986
Calenture 1987

Pines would be the weaker, but that's a damn fine set of relaeases, and ALL within a 12 month period. Geez, I wish Dave McComb was still with us. :(
