I love the Beatles but Led Zep 1-3 come to mind first for best 3 and 4 is great as well.

Beatles I would go Sgt. Peppers, Magical mystery Tour and the White Album. Yellow Submarine came after the White Album otherwise that, Abbey Road and Let It Be were a strong 3

The Yes Album, Fragile and Close To The Edge were brill

Living in the 70”s, Ego ( is not a dirty word), and Straight in a gay gay world were the first three records from legendary Melbourne band Skyhooks. Released between 1974 and 1977 they still hold up today with great innovative production, superb musicianship and fantastic songwriting.

The Roots - do you want more, illadelph halflife, things fall apart
Massive attack - blue lines, protection, mezzanine
Slayer - seasons in the abyss, divine intervention, undisputed attitude
The Angels - face to face, no exit, dark room

The Beatles have Rubber Soul/Revolver/Pepper/White Album/Abbey Road..untouchable IMO.

I would also consider Help! starting that sequence - considered the turning point of the band and only the second time they completed an album full of originals. The silly movie tends to overshadow how good the music actually was.

Ranked by my lesser album of the three (although other ways to do this)

1. OK Computer-Kid A-Amnesiac (Radiohead)
2. Faith-Listen Without Prejudice-Older (George Michael)
^above two virtually equal
3. Blue Lines-Protection-Mezzanine (Massive Attack)
4. Erotica-Bedtime Stories-Ray of Light (Madonna)
5. Confield-Draft 7.30-Untilted (Autechre)
5. To Bring You My Love-Is This Desire?-Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea (PJ Harvey)
6. (WPSAI,TWIN-FWN-)Humbug-Suck it and See-AM (Arctic Monkeys)
7. (Crocodiles-)Heaven Up Here-Porcupine-Ocean Rain (Echo & the Bunnymen)
^above two both had a comparably consistent run early on
8. Amber-Tri Repetae-Chiastic Slide (Autechre)
9. Meddle-DSOTM-WYWH (Pink Floyd)
10. (Debut-)Post-Homogenic-Vespertine (Bjork)
11. Low-"Heroes"-Lodger (David Bowie)
12. ArchAndroid-Electric Lady-Dirty Computer (Janelle Monae)
13. Rubber Soul-Revolver-Sgt Peppers (Beatles)

Interesting that Autechre get two separate runs in the top 8. Also some cases where the 1st and 2nd best albums in a strong run of 4-5 albums are at opposite ends, so the 2nd misses out.

Once I finally get around to listening to Together Alone, I suspect Crowded House will be in there as well, given I love their 2nd, 3rd and 5th albums.

For me David Bowie was unsurpassed as an artist in the 70's.

1970 - The man who sold the world
1971 - Hunky Dory
1972 - The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
1973 - Aladdin Sane

That is 4 absolutely brilliant albums. Later in 1973 he released Pinups an album of covers. Some pretty good versions but not a classic album. Harry Vanda has stated that Bowies cover of Friday on my mind is the only cover he likes.

1974 - Diamond Dogs
1974 - David Live
1975 - Young Americans
1976 - Station to Station
1977 - Low
1977 - "Heroes"
1978 - Stage
1979 - Lodger

All of these albums are brilliant. It was an amazing creative period for music and for Bowie in particular. Bowie was a genius and although the 2 live albums (David Live and Stage) may not be considered classics the other albums are.

Together Alone’s my favourite Crowded House album. It might not have as many commercial hits as it’s predecessors (although Private Universe and Distant Sun are obviously classics) but there’s this dreamy feel to it throughout which I just love. It’s their masterpiece imo.

I've often heard similar things (it certainly seems to have the least haters and arguably the most reverence). Those two songs are classics, and I've also long been a fan of Pineapple Head, and am familiar with a few other tracks such as Nails in Your Feet and Fingers of Love from their live stuff. I'm intrigued to see how it all sits together as an album, expect to love it too.

Since the release of the deluxe editions, I returned to them pretty heavily for about 15 months (including One Nil), so I needed a little break. The Deluxe editions of Together Alone, Intriguer and Afterglow are waiting patiently for when the time is right :) (got them cheaply on Amazon UK about 18 months back).
