Then I uncovered my David Bowie collection, not realising that he had quietly been recording an authentic homage to our Blues.
Here's his secret Carlton playlist for the 21st Century that I found......

"As the World Falls Down" - written for the Salary Cap breach
"Ashes to Ashes" - written for Brittain, Pagan and Ratten
"Black Tie, White Noise" - written for Fev' Brownlow brain-fade
"Because You're Young" - written for Bolton's coaching appointment
"Where Have All the Good Times Gone" - written for the 2018 season basically
"All the Young Dudes" - written for SOS and Agresta's recent list management magic
"Big Brother" - written for Ed's nurturing of Charlie and which one will leave the greater legacy at CFC
"Cactus" - written for the 2018-19 summer list of injuries
"Dancing in the Street" - written for the Lygon St celebrations when Judd was traded in
"Fashion" - written for those hideous wolf-grey AWAY strips
"Future Legend" - written for Cripps (even though the future's already here!!)
"Golden Years" - written for 2020 through to 2030
"Here Today, Gone Tomorrow" - written for Eddie Betts (we still miss you Eddie!!)
"Heroes" - written for our current 2019 crop
"I Can't Give Everything Away" - written for our CLOSED training sessions this summer
"Lazarus" - written for the 2020 season
"Little Wonder" - written for Zac Fisher (but putting on some muscle of late)
"The Loneliest Guy" - written for Liam Jones's 1-on-1 defence
"Scary Monsters (and Super creeps)" - written for what the other 17 teams will be saying in 2020 and beyond
"Silly Boy Blue" - written for Bootsma (nuf said!!)
"Watch That Man" - written for Walsh (get around him!!)
"Wishful Beginnings" - written for the 2018 Rd 1 first quarter start against Richmond
and
"We Shall Go To Town" - written for the 2019 Rd 1 win against Richmond

I didn't have Bowie pegged as a Blues man, but I obviously got it wrong.

Also his song for the past 20 years of suffering by blues supporters....Sorrow.

Here’s some unrecorded verses. :D

What happened to those long flowing mullets and your team of blue. The only thing I ever got from you, was sorrow, sorrow.

You're acting funny, want to spend my money. You out there playing some piss poor games of sorrow, sorrow.

You never do what you know you ought to. So much for that ******* premiership quarter, sorrow, sorrow.
