We've had a few of the better brothers, Wakelin(Darrel), Collins(Che), Carr(Josh), Hartlett(Hamish), James(Roger), but we have also had some of the worse of the brothers, Bassett(Scott), Bond(Shane), Lower(Nick), Lonie(Nathan), Minson(Hugh), Stevens(Michael)

Other than that we have had a few sets of the best brothers going around in Burgoyne's, Cornes', and some average, Murrays, Westhoffs.

Got some good sets of cousins, the Motlops(Daniel and Marlon), Rodan and Carlile.

Andrew Moore will be better than his brother Kelvin.

Joel > Patrick Bowden
Simon > Justin Madden
Luke > Sam Power
Tom > Sam Lonergan
Daniel > Marlon Motlop
Nick = Ben Holland

Also emerging is:
Dylan and Jack Grimes
Jack and Charlie Riewoldt

who was the better McAdam brother? when Adrian came on the scene it looked like he'd kick 150 in his first season (kicked like 25 in his first 4 games or something didnt he?) then he just kind of dissapeared

Gilbert had a slightly longer career but not by much

They may be distant relations somewhere, but they certainly ain't brothers.

Yep Michael and Benny Gale are brothers.

From Geelong, the Nankervises and Rankins are probably the best sets of brothers, followed by the Hockings.

I think Collingwood, with the Richards, Colliers, Shaws, Coventrys, Roccas and Roses have the greatest tradition of brothers in the league.

You can put the Hardimans and the Lords in there too :thumbsu:

I like the history of 'brothers of stars' who probably only got a game because of relatives.

At Richmond Wes Barrott (brother of Billy) got 3 games, Peter Cloke only played 28, but his younger brother turned out OK, we had 3 Bowdens (everyone forgets Sean, the eldest).

Not even close. Joel was the best 16 year old in the country before the knee issues interrupted his under 18 year and hence draft position.
I don't think anyone's doubting that Joel has turned out as the best Selwood.....

but (and this is probs a case of commentators enjoying the sounds of their own voice too much), it was mentioned a number of times "and there's another Selwood available to be drafted soon and he's supposed to be the best of the lot".

It's obvious to see that they were wrong and that joel is superior, though Scott has some nice upsides and should settle into the number two spot in the family in the next year or two.

Leaving the pecking order as Joel>Scott>Adam>Troy and I can't see that changing anytime soon

Nathan & Gary?

The thing with Nathan and Gary wasn't so much that Nathan WAS better, more that Gary was deemed to be a known quantity while Nathan was supposedly the definition of X-factor. Unfortunately Nathan was more "X-factor the TV show", rather than "X-factor the unstoppable phenomenon".

Identical twins are interesting.

Scotts - Chris started the better but Brad finished beter
Febeys - Stephen > Mathew
Selwoods - You would have to say at this stage Adams the better player
Wakelins - not sure who was the better player at the saints because i could never tell them apart, but Shane @ Collingwood > Darrryl @ port

Joel???

Correctamundo.

Without doubt the best brother combination to ever hit an oval closely followed by the Colliers, Albert and Harry.

Has there been any other brothers that have both been included in a Team of the Century. (not necessarily for the same team)
Honestly cant think of one.

The Danihers say hi, lol.

What do the 4 sets of brothers mentioned in his post have in common?

Chris and Brad Scott? - they may have been twins.....

Stephen and Matthew Febey? - they may have been twins....

Daryl and Shane Wakelin? - they may have been twins

So when he mentions the Selwoods in the company of these 3 brothers? Maybe he is talking about the twins? Adam and Troy? Where Adam has clearly forged ahead.

Fair call, misread. I didnt know this had turned into a debate on identical twins? lol
