To think they topped up their list thinking they could be like Geelong…
Dusty checked out 18 months ago and will be reunited with Dimwit in 25

Lol. Richmond Tarpers in a few short years
At least the lines to the bars will be short and I'll be back in my seat without missing anything.

I'm always looking for the positives.

That Barrett is such an idiotic arse. Its bad for Richmond (3 flags in the last dozen years) to be like Hawthorn (3 flags in the last dozen years) rather than Geelong (1 flag in the last dozen years)?

If they want sustained finals appearances like Chris Scott delivers they need to hire Chris Scott. If we are talking flags though he's only just above Bevo, Goodwin and Simpson, and behind Dimma and Clarkson.

How does he rate against your last 10 coaches?

As person? Horribly.

Scott: 2 flags, sniper, whinging flog.

Mcrae: 1 flag (but watch this space), worse coach, better player, better person
Buckley 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person
Malthouse: 3 flags, better coach, better player, better person
Tony Shaw 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person
Leigh Matthews 4 flags, better coach, better player, worse person (he banged one of his own players exes and assaulted a player off the ball).
Bob Rose, 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person
John Cahill 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person
Tom Hafey 4 flags, better coach, better player, better person
Murray Weidemann 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person.
Neil Mann 0 flags, worse coach, better player, better person

Before that its Phonse Kyne and Jock McHale, don't even bother. McHale is the finest coach to every catch a bum splinter at the MCG.

Its an interesting discussion, do decent people make good coaches? Scott is pretty much Geelong's besterest coach ever. Less of a challenge when its all been at a medium club with moderate success but he's been great, and he ranks well against some of our mid tier coaches for success.

The fact he won one with the Dank dregs doesn't count against him in my eyes, those repeated finals campaign prove his quality, and he did it at a not-rich club that has needed repeated government hand outs.

I guess I'm reacting to Barrett's idiocy denigrating hawthorn and Richmond's dominant success. Would you rather a threepeat or three in four and some spoon time, or one flag and a decade of misses? No wrong answer, but I incline to the 3 flags over the 1.

Edit: looking at winning percentages, Mcrae has a better % of games won, and in finals he's 66%$ to about 40%, but the sample size is too small, to make a call. Lets see how Fly is going when he nears 300 games (hopefully in the ballpark). Thats why I rate Scott so highly, he's been doing for over a decade.

It's actually quite flattering that they have tried to copy our model. However, it seems they missed the part about not paying too much for guys your bring in (in terms of both $ & draft picks).

Desperation is claiming another teams flags...
Fatcs are the only Collingwood coach who has coached more flags for Collingwood than Scott is Jock McHail and he coached for 35 years.

I popped in a stealth edit there, have a re-read.

You asked me to compare our past 10 coaches to Chris Scott, you didn't know Matthews and Hafey coached more than one club? LOL catch up son.

Oh I knew that, don't worry. I just didn't expect you to try to claim their flags as yours.
The funniest thing is all those coaches who's flags from other teams you claimed, they did better at their other clubs than at Collingwood, kinda says something about Collingwood huh.

MOTY

Basically he was pointing out that it's taken Collingwood (as a collective club) 33 years to Surpass Chris Scotts premiership record at Geelong.
He also tried to claim flags from other clubs to pump up Collingwood coaches records the sneaky little rascal.
