Been a Liverpool supporter for 25 years Sunshine, since the day I was born.

So yes I must be a Bandwagoner considering when I was born we were undoubtable the Greatest Club in English Soccer, Infact I would consider the 70s 80's Liverpool sides as the Greatest of their Era. John Barnes, Graeme Souness, Kevin Keegan, Ian Rush and the legendary Kenny Dalglish.

Great managers such as Bob Paisley, Kenny Dalglish and the great Bill Shankly.

Having a Grandfather that grew up a stones throw from Anfield to tell stories to you about Shankley antics when you were a youngsters and watchin every and any games I could get on the tube growing up.

I guess I am a Bandwagoner!

"Been a member of BigFooty since October 2007 this person, yet found the football board not just after one of your best starts to a league season, but a win over one of your biggest rivals and a stunning Gerrard led comeback away in the UCL. Maybe you only found it today, but it was a very convienent time to go looking for the board, so to say"

Twit! Look at my name? Does that look like someone who had just decided to let it be known that he is a Liverpool fan thru and thru. 19 years and still lacking. Unfortunatly yes, I only did just find it. I am and have been a RAWK member for many years but it is nice to know there are Aussie reds out there and plenty of em.

There is a nugget of truth in your words though, Without sponsorship our cashflow would be very dry and I do expect the owners to be milking every bit of marketablity out of us.

As for the Gerrard goal against Marseille, it was nice considering he had to kick around his body and the Olympiacos goal was absolutley vital and held great importance but the best goal in the CL run was Luis Garcia's V Juventus and to be honest if we had lost the next round Stevie G's goal would have held no importance to the run at all so if you want my honest opinion, Gerrards goal V West Ham in the FA cup has to be his greatest and considering it really was last chance time, His most memorable to me. I dont think I have ever been so relieved to go into extratime!

Best goal purely on the basis of being a freak goal is hands down V middlesborough 04, if you have seen it what more can I say, Curled into the far top corner.

Is that a picture of Shaka Hislop and Steven Gerrard? Maybe

Maybe it's Jose Reina and Anton Ferdinand, but we can't blame it all on poor Anton can we... after all he wasn't the only one! :)
Well you go through a lot of heartbreak when you choose not to bandwagon a big 4 club :) .

The piss isnt being taken from you UL NVR WLK ALN. Anyone who believes that "ZOMG my club is better then yours because we dont have bandwagoners" is talking shit. It just strikes me as funny the amount of people who suddenly found this forum or who had only now found time to post after the win on the weekend.

Im not criticizing anyone who chooses to follow Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Man U. Chances are knowdays that because the only regular European football on FTA in Australia is the UCL, that these teams will be the first teams they see, and the first team they find an attachment to for whatever reason, be it Aussies (Kewell Liverpool, Bosnich Man U and Chelsea, Everton and Cahill, and before then Kewell and Viduka at Leeds and even further before then Craig Johnston and Liverpool), success at either domestic or European level or just the colour of the shirt, or what their mates think. What grinds my gears thoughs, who only "actively post and support these teams" when the going is good. Personally I got into Manchester United in 1998ish, we had an English kid come to our primary school who was a soccer nut. It was always us two talking about football, everyone else preferred footy or cricket, and I wouldnt know how many times I have gone to his house to watch the treble video... I think I saw it 40 times in one year:eek:...

Its not only Liverpool fans who have come across like this. The Spurs fans after their Carling Cup win were pretty hard to contain, or at least until the league started this year, and the Arsenal Invasion of 2007 had many casualties.

It still seems a bit fishy to me that someone finds this board after two great wins despite being on the site for nearly a year... You may have your reasons, but from the outside at least, it looks dodgy...

Your username, while a tribute to LFC, could come from anyone with even the slightest attachment to LFC. Even my mate, who thinks football is for sheila's, wogs and poofters, knows that Man U are the "Red Devils" knows who Ronaldo is (some nancy boy, by his words, and those sentiments would fit in around here).

I have said that Gerrard has scored both better goals in terms of difficulty and the quality of the strike, and more important goals, in terms of the long run. His header against Milan in 2005 was highly under-rated IMO, really got you guys back into the game...

Its not purely a personal criticism YNWA, but between all those who have just "found the Liverpool Army thread" it does look suspcious.

And again, if you are a true fan, then I look forward to having another football fan on the forum to chew the fat on the world game :thumbsu:

Interestingly enough, UL NVR WLK ALN has made his first posts on BF since 22 June 2008. Since he has started re-posting, he hasnt posted anywhere except this thread... and has not posted at all on the Crows, who as we know had a slightly disappointing end to the season

Merely an observation...

And if you had been even looking at these boards over the last 2 months, you would know I am not a Tigers fan...
Yeah it makes me feel sick looking at a Weagle parading as a Tiger

I make no bones about being a bandwagoner - of sorts - if that is what anyone who supports a semi-successful club, and started following the game after person X, is.

I only started following the world game 4-5 years ago when a friend of mine married a Brit and we became friends by association. My housemate at the time was also South American, so I started learning the sport through him. Even back then I was only the tokenistic "Socceroos" suppoerter...aussie, aussie, aussie...oi, oi, oi! Harry Kewell is God and all that...My new friend was and is a Liverpool supporter. I took a leaning to his team.

I started playing as Premier League clubs in Fifa and Pro-Evo games instead of just as Australia. I started learning more about international players and teams, different competitions in different countries. I started watching games, and talked to people who watched the games in my pub. I emersed myself in the world cup, watched just about every match screened.

I started picking favourite players through games and expanded my allegiance across different leagues, much to the annoyance of friends, because in their eyes, you can't like two teams even if they're in different leagues...

I was seemingly one of the few who bought and enjoyed the UEFA Champions League game released a couple of years ago. I played the Challenge Mode, and assembled a team including players such as Obafemi Martins feom NUFC and Cris from L'OL. Not huge names in the game, but players I took a shine to. Players I used season after season as I thrashed the shit outta that game. Players that made me have soft spots for the teams they are part of...

These days, I'm slightly obsessed for lack of a better word. I watch at least 6 games a week. I read this board daily, I follow transfer periods with as much fervor as I would AFL trade week. I stay up to watch Champions League, even when it's only a net stream.

...and that is why I don't post...for I am a bandwagoner.
Of course they haven't won much since I started really following them :D

Just in case Ashley objects to me posting, I am also a long time RAWK poster, and only really came to BF to talk AFL. HOWEVER I did notice while bored at work a week or so ago a Liverpool board, and thought I'd have a read/ post. If I am going to be branded as a bandwagoner by a 19yr old Egirl/Richmond/Man-ure supporter I mite just have to go back to RAWK for any EPL chat.
We will see.

On EPL matters, really hoping the Reds can smash Stoke tonite. These games over the last few seasons have hurt us a bit, seem to get really fired up for big games, then drop very winnable ones the following week. I think to get 3 points tonite is as important as the 3 against Man-ure or against the Bitters next week. That might sound obvious but too many times I think we have "settled" for a draw, and against the Stokes of the world I really think we need to smash em if we are going to have a shot at the business end of the season.

On the away kits, the grey is the most shitefull kit going around!(the yellow/red one is pretty ordinary as well) What is wrong with the red "home" white "away" and black "third" kits. Oh thats right greedy useless yanks who have to have a different kit every year for all us mugs to buy.

wow, what have i missed? a bit of a cat fight between ashley12 (who's apparently an eagles fan but has a richmond avatar??), and a newcomer to the board (welcome).

i dont understand why ppl who go on opposition boards and start shit.

as for bandwagoner stuff, 90s - man u and arsenal fans, 00's chelsea and man u.

quite normal really. successful teams get more coverage, hence more fans.

1980's Liverpool - oh what a coincedence! that accounts for most of the supporters on here.

I want you to embarrass them 8-0 but I doubt it.

They play awful football but really you guys should be able to counter the 'long throw' method.
why are you sucking up to Liverpool fans?

dude that's low. real low.

I mean, I like Stoke about as much as an Adam Sandler movie yet still hope they do what they obviously won't.

Again, im not criticizing anyone for choosing to follow Liverpool football club. What team someone chooses to follow, and how deep that following goes, is there choice. That is fine, there are many teams that a follow very loosely and would still consider myself a fan, such as Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL, Perth Wildcats in the NBL and the Western Force in the Super 14. But I dont feel the need after a big win or good performance against a big rival to just suddenly drop into the Basketball or rugby boards and begin talking it up.

What I am criticizing is the number of people who decide now is a great time to post more regularly on matters relating to LFC. THAT IS BANDWAGONISM. The old adage "you only sing when your winning" runs true when this happens. And it isnt just a criticism of a minority of fans of LFC, it happened with Arsenal at the start of last season (who could forget the greatness of Ryan van Persie) and it happened with Manchester United last year, with threads like "ZOMG, sign Phillip Lahm Saf!!11!1"

For the real fans, there have been plenty of big incidents at the club over the years that "those who dont post regularly" could have talked about. Was the Mascherano send off the right thing at OT?, Should LFC have been more proactive in the off-season, along with the regular soap-opera that is your ownership situation.

Fwoy, these criticisms aren't directed at those like yourself who cant post on this forum all the time. Neither is the fact that people follow Liverpool because of Mr X. Neither is the fact that people follow Liverpool/Lyon or whoever else because it was through an Xbox game, nor the fact that people might have soft spots for people like Oba or Cris and their respective clubs. Its when people begin posting more or less straight after a win against Man U that grinds my gears.

ok... that's is interesting. you're a stalker.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. You guys should be able to beat Stoke tonight, and keep the momentum and belief that has been built up by the last week or so.

On the away kits, the grey is the most shitefull kit going around!(the yellow/red one is pretty ordinary as well) What is wrong with the red "home" white "away" and black "third" kits. Oh thats right greedy useless yanks who have to have a different kit every year for all us mugs to buy.
About the extra kits, surely the fans would keep buying them if they were still the same colour but minor changes. This would not only keep your kit looking respectable, but would keep the money going into your owners pockets.

Trust me mate, I hate them more than any non-Everton/Manure fan on this board. But Stoke are a disgrace and along with Bolton I hope they get relegated.

We all know Liverpool won't win anything this year anyway :p .

Again, I dont care the fact that lots of people support Liverpool or Manchester United. Its when they decide to start making themselves known around the boards a few days after a good result that shit me.

The avatar comes from a bet I lost on Bay 13...

It was merely making a what I thought was a reasonably clever joke at one post. Someone took offence, thought that I was just some "bandwagoner" etc... I havent felt the need to revert to calling your mob "Liverscum" or anything like that.

Again Im not against people being a Scouse fan, its just I hope to see you guys more then once or twice every few years...

fair enough, perhaps the man u boards will be heavily scrutinised for newbies signing up this season, or perhaps at the end of last season
