European giant FFS. You're a top end premier league team that got lucky in a predominately knockout cup competition the season before last (yes you're not European Chumps any more).

You, along with Man United and Arsenal are lightweights in Europe.
Unlike YOUR team that is only a "lightweight" in their own country...

Watching a team with So many supporters do so Crap year in year out must Really rile you to make comments and downplay the success of others ;)

Not sure what my team has to do with it, I'm not running around bemoaning the fact that signings of Dickov and Joe Hart are beneath my team. Actually looking at my comments I'm being a bit unfair to Arsenal and Man United. They still can compete with the best in Europe as far as transfers go (although United is struggling a bit), and both have been a factor in title races in the past decade and a half, unlike Liverpool.

I tend to agree on the transfer front. United have always been able to splash out big money on players like Ferdinand, Rooney etc... Arsenal i'm not too sure on, they seem to be shrewed buyers a bit like what Benitez is doing at the moment for Liverpool. Arsenal splashed out big on Reyes (17mil UK wasn;t it?) but apart from that, they've only really had the odd 10mil UK signing i thought. Overall i would of thought Arsenal and Liverpool would be on simular terms as far as splashing out in the market on a big money player. As far as the title race goes, we are on the up. Chelsea are a fair bit ahead, while Man Utd are still solid but i think are having some problems resolving their midfield, while Arsenal just completed what Liverpool done the previous season before that. It will all come down to which of the big 4 can take the most points off each other.

Well it appears certain that Bellamy will be at Liverpool next season in a £6,000,000 move from Blackburn with F.S.P. being used as a sweetner to the deal. Bellamy was a Liverpool supporter when growing up and there is a get out clause in Blackburn contract that expires on June 30th so it is expected that he will make full use of this clause.

Cisse it appears will be loaned out to Marseille with a look to being sold.

I would hope that we would sign another striker ie Kuyt but i get the impression this will not happen.

Unless it is with a view to buy I can't really see the point in this for Marseilles. There was some talk of Cisse being used as a bargaining chip for Liverpool to get Nasri on loan, that may still be a factor.

Well thats what was reported in the Echo this morning. At least we would not have to pay Cisses wages while he is out on loan. That would be the main reason i can think of.

Thats what sky sports reported isn't it? I haven't seen this Nasri play, but being only 19 i assume he could be one for the future, so perhaps if he doesn't move to Liverpool this transfer window, we may have haggled in a first option clause in there. I have no doubt there is a buy price in the loan contract for Cisse, we can't be really sure how much it is until the loan expires and if Marseille take it up. I would think it will be around 8mil UK.

Bellamy at £6million is the talk at the moment.

In terms of value as a striker, absolute bargain, but like many others I fear for what he'll do for the dressing room atmosphere. Could be as good for us, as our last welsh midget :D, or could be Diouf mk II:mad:

On balance at that price I think he's worth the risk.

Please tell me you're not trying to suggest that Liverpool is a bigger club than Barcelona.
Barca and Liverpool are on the same level. Im not talking right now as Barca are european champs and domestic champs but in the history of football both clubs are on the highest level.

:D:D:D

Barcelona is a bigger club on so many levels. Liverpool have won a knockout cup three more times, but thats about it.

Not overly excited by Bellamy but in Rafa we trust. Hopefully Bellamy can work hard on and OFF the pitch :)

However would love to see another striker signed so there is plenty of competition for places in the team.

Still awaiting more/any updates regarding Daniel Alves. I don't know a huge amount about him. Anyone???

I know he plays on the right, but is that as a midfielder or back?

Saw his face in the Uefa Cup final, looks a mean bugger. Is he worth what Sevilla want for him?

Who knows apparently they have knocked back our 8m bid and want 12m for him but that's surely too much. We need a striker more than anything right now. Alves can play both RB and right wing but we dont need him for RB with Finnan back there.

No idea whats going on at the moment, Bellamy and Alves seem the likely two to come to us but it wont be the best of summer's if those two are the only ones we bring in.

I'm not too sure...... there's something about Bellamy I like. He did score a lot of goals this year. I'm not really worried about his off field behaviour. If he comes in and scores 15-20 in the league, I couldn't care less if he was on weekend release from prison.

You would think, given he supported Liverpool growing up (has he grown up?? ;) ) then he may behave himself a bit better than he previously has anyway.

Personally though, I'd be pretty happy if Sanz Luis got his way and we jagged David Villa from Valencia.

Liverpool did win the CL only 1 year ago which you would think puts them right up there. Having said that, Porto won it only 2 years ago and I wouldn't exactly label them European giants.

For me, I think we are in Europe's elite (giant is such a strong word) but for those who think not - could you please list who YOU would consider to be on that list?
elite? you were extremely lucky last season. your victory was not as a result of a powerhouse finally winning the big prize (ala barcelona) you were faded has beens who got incredibly breaks and good fortune.

Liverpool have been irrelevant for 20 years, and nothing looks like changing any time soon. that said, they were once a great club...

Whatever bud. What IS irrelevent is this argument. All Liverpool fans will say yes, most others will say no. End of the day who gives a **** - we got our trophies and I'm happy. So who are the 'powerhouses' of world soccer anyway Crow-mo? Your opinion, that is.

ah, exactly what I usually expect from a scouser... inarticulate tosh, that doesn't even attempt to describe or discuss anything that was said.

but I am sure you're right, your memories of souness, dalgleish, rush and hansen are powerful currency in today's world :thumbsu:
