My final pick is a another Australian. Perhaps surprisingly though, he is another Australian spinner. As happens from time, he was plucked from obscurity to play for his country, and though his debut was in Tests, he found regularity in the one day team as an economical player, though not at the expense of rarely taking wickets - his average is 28, and even better in Australia. He was also a more than useful batsman, with a good strike rate for the time.

Peter Taylor.

PRESS CONFERENCE

Glinn Mgraw and his team have just completed a completely ungruelling press conference in which they were asked some supposedly tough questions which were handled with ease.

Mgraw began the conference by giving the team name - Glinn Mgraw's Invitational XIV - and naming the captain and vice captain - Hansie Cronje and Adam Gilchrist respectively.

Mgraw then explained the composition of his team briefly: "My team has been devised by selecting players which aren't necessarily the most renowned or famous, though there are some exceptions to that, but which will add greatly to the team. This team is greater than the sum of its parts. It's a team designed to be brutally effective in every aspect of the game. This a group of tough competitors who greatly compliment one another."

Questions were then opened to the assorted press. The first questions were about the appointment of Cronje as captain. Cronje responded by saying that, firstly, he would never deliberately throw a match, and secondly, he was dead, so payments to him would be pointless. When asked how he could play considering his lack of life, Cronje simply said "Watch me."

Some questions were asked about the selection of certain players, especially Chatfield and Taylor. Mgraw responded by pointing to their impressive economy rates and records in Australia, and states "We expect them to provide a complementary role to our strike bowlers. They were not simply picked out a hat. I don't even have a hat."

Some journalists questioned the name of the team. Mgraw reply was that "It's simply stating a fact. These fourteen players have been invited by me to play for me. They aren't getting paid, there's little in it for them, but they accepted my invitation. Hence, Glinn Mgraw's Invitational XIV."

When asked about what was going on between Chatfield and Zaheer in the earlier picture, Mgraw laughed and replied "Chatfield keeps tapping Zaheer on the opposite shoulder to the side he is standing on. Zaheer has fallen for it four times today."

Chatfield promptly tapped Mgraw on the shoulder (which Mgraw guessed correctly), indicating the end of the press conference. Some people have reported that Cronje floated out of the room, though this is an unconfirmed rumour.

Last selection of the draft, how exciting! I'm going for some X Factor...

Ajantha Mendis

This guy had an amazing start to his ODI career; his bowling average of 20 puts him right up there with the best.

He began to fade when teams were exposed to his methods; but his major advantage in this competition is that many players have never faced him before. His variations are sure to spin out many a player...if he gets a chance to play.

Coaches now have 24 hours to finalise their squads. Any eligible player who has not been picked may be done so - simply announce in the thread who you are dropping and replacing. Once a player is dropped from a squad, any team may pick him up.

Coaches must also post a final list of their squad in the thread by this time tomorrow. This should also include the name of their squad, which will be used in their matchups.

First round match-ups will be posted around 4 pm EST tomorrow.
