SOBERS-ING NEWS FOR ALL TIME GREAT
To be replaced in Fantasy Cricket Squad

In a shock backflip over his previous support of the controversial signing, Balli Boomers manager thorne89 has further stirred the tabloid pot by revealing plans were in action to replace the great Sir Garfield Sobers.

thorne89 seemed at ease with his decision, and when questioned about his reasoning he responded at length. "Look, this wasn't an easy decision to make...we revised the rules, and studied the players who were taken in latter rounds...and with some slipping more than expected, we'd be crazy not to take the leap."

Sobers has not made himself available to comment, and it is understood that this news may cause a rift between the remaining West Indians in the team and thorne89. Malcolm Marshall is understood to have challenged thorne89 to a nets session; the manager has yet to reply to his charge.

Sobers' replacement is expected to be revealed very shortly.

I am replacing Garry Sobers with...

Mahela Jayawardene

A prolific, elegant and utterly classy batsman with a huge appetite for runs, and a calm yet authoritative captain - those are the qualities that best describe Mahela Jayawardene. His sheer quality as a batsman was never in doubt even when he just entered the international scene, but for Jayawardene the biggest challenge has been to justify all the early hype. With over 10,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs - and a captaincy stint that included a World Cup final appearance - it can safely be said that he has met that challenge more than adequately.

Blessed with excellent hand-eye coordination and a fine technique, Jayawardene scores his runs all around the wicket. Among his favourite strokes are the languid cover-drive - often with minimal footwork but precise placement and timing - and the wristy flick off his legs, but there are several others he plays with equal felicity. The most memorable are the cuts and dabs he plays behind the stumps, mostly off spinners, but also against quick bowling, when bat makes contact with ball delightfully late.
A total of 10406 ODI runs against Sobers' 0 decided it for me!

Silver Sphinx sign Sobers

After the shock news of Sobers axing from the Balli Boomers, Silver Sphinx coach Surkin has moved quickly to sign the star all rounder adding a little swagger to his team. Surkin was unfazed when reminded of Sobers underwhelming ODI record pointing to his undeniable talent and phenomenal record.

Sobers was thrilled with the late call up and the chance to play with other West Indies greats Clive Lloyd, Colin Croft and Andy Roberts. Sobers said he was willing to do whatever the coach wanted include mixing the drinks if need be, but he was particularly looking forward to facing the Balli Boomers and in particular their coach thorne89. "Look man, I know my record is poor but the way I was axed was very disappointing. I look forward to taking out my frustrations out on the Boomers." Sobers will wear number 57 as a reminder of his test average.

Surkin confirmed that Shoaib Malik was the unfortunate player to be cut for Sobers. Malik was disappointed with the decision but understood the reasoning for being cut for one of the all time test greats.

Just adding the team again with the wicketkeeper labelled. We'd choose to bowl first.
