12 years ago I was roped into working for a shitty commission only company that was part of direct marketing cult called The Cobra Group. The Cobra Group paid people $2.50 a ticket selling $10 raffle tickets outside of supermarkets on a commission only basis. They still exist and their working demographic are still largely the same, employing naive and spritely nineteen year olds such as myself as well people 25-35 who weren't overly smart who who generally had failed at life or lucked out at integrating into society.

To further extrapolate I found out our boss was on methadone after we had to make a stop at a pharmacy every morning on the way to site so he could disappear inside for 15 minutes and get his fix. Another guy was about 5"5' tall, had hair like Kevin from The Office, and his prized possession, which he brought into work one day, was a copy of the 2005 porn film 'Pirates', which had been signed by leading lady Jesse Jane, whom he also had a photo with. Another had three kids to two different women and had spent large parts of the last 12 months unemployed. The fourth guy in this story was actually a good dude who, like me, was a tad naive and had fallen into the role as a result.

As part of working for this shitty company we had a once a year event in Sydney which allowed all the different arms of the company to come together for some good old fashioned brainwashing and cult activities. Five of us 'senior members' of the team (i.e. those who had been at the company for more than 6 weeks) flew up, all of us guys and all of us ready to let our hair down. Having spend the day dressed in our finest $300 suits and awkwardly applauding everyone of the dozens of people who got on stage it was time to relax and unwind.

After copious amount of alcohol the five of us found ourselves at 4am stumbling around Kings Cross when someone suggests visiting a brothel, which was quickly voted on as a great idea. After asking around we found the nearest one and went to enter, stopping to let a young tradie out who was wearing hi-vis and clearly on his way to work to earn back the day's wages that he'd just spent on sex.

We go into the brothel and it's a bar area filled with Thai sex workers, one big ass black security guy and a small Asian bartender who hands us a VB each for the low, low price of $6. It's at this point that the guys start talking amongst themselves and two fess up that they don't actually have the $250 on hand to pay for a one hour roll in the hay. Porn loving Pirates guy, who at this point was quivering in excitement, steps up and offers to loan them the cash so they can get the job done. I opt out as a) I didn't have the $250 and b) I wasn't into the idea of banging sex workers on a work trip with my colleagues. Once agreed they each take turns picking a lady of the night and head upstairs for 60 minutes of passion, leaving me sitting downstairs making awkward small talk with the bartender while he kept feeding me a steady diet of $6 VBs. When the job is done we head back to the hotel and get a couple of hours sleep before our flight back down to Melbourne.

The guys spent the next week talking about how 'awesome' the trip was and bragging that they got laid. The two guys that borrowed money didn't repay a cent of it and Pirates porn guy was too cowardly to bring it up, despite having stumped up well over a week's wages to allow his boss and sales teammate to get laid.

So yes, in short brothels are set up a lot like a bar with an upstairs room and I know this from experience.

Eh i would NOT tell my mother. Nor family.

I've told maybe 3 friends. they're all cool with it and want to know details.

Oh and yeah all of BF. :tearsofjoy:
I meant would never admit where they spent their disposal able income.
I'd tell no one. Bigfooty is like my vault. I tell my secrets and they are in the endless void of the internet.
There would be some serious awkward conversations if I was doxed

Sounds like a good steak joint where they bring out different cuts and you choose your bit of meat for the night

Judging by the dirty feel of the place it was more of a knock shop than a reputable establishment like Gotham City. Likely all Thai women because they come over on a tourist visa, worked cash in hand and then head back home.

Ah yeah, gotcha.

Some Asians are stunning dont get me wrong. Just not a turn on. I like... idk Aussie women, or dark skinned Spanish/Latino or even Hawaiian (found a stunner on SB)... but not Chinese/Japanese.

I'm the same re Asians....don't do anything for me. A big reason didn't go near them in Bali or Thailand like most of my mates did. That and picked up some Irish birds over a few nights in Thailand. Didn't get as much action as my mates for the trip though

I didn't like Asians until I went to uni, certainly gained an appreciation for them there (and the short shorts of course). I do regret not giving one a touch up at some point that's for sure.

Exact same outlook re. men too.

Altho always exceptions to the rule, i met a lovely Asian guy, got along like a house on fire with him right away (was a Hawks supporter) would have loved to have gone on a date with him, even tho i typically "dont like" Asians.

Me and a Canadian bloke who was staying at the same bungalows as me in Koh Samui decided to go on a bar crawl bender in the town near us.

One bar we ended up at had a couple of Thai hookers there that latched on to us, I got the younger better looking one and the Canadian bloke got the older uglier looking one that looked like the other one's mother, he wasn't impressed.

We weren't interested in hooking up with them but we played some pool and Connect 4 with them and then when we were drinking Jagermeister shots at the bar we decided we were hungry so got them to go and get some fried chicken for us. I think they expected us to take them home but we were just there to get on the piss.

About 15 years ago I applied for a job and after talking to the guy on the phone to set up an interview, I thought to myself 'this sounds like the Cobra Group everyone always has been things to say about'

I ended up doing a no show.

SE Asian thing. So many bars have it. Very strange.
Yeah a lot of bars there have games like Connect 4, I guess it's a good way for people to interact that don't speak the same language.

These hookers must have played a heap of Connect 4 as they whipped our arses at it, they had the advantage of being sober though.

Sober and pretending to drink
Plenty of practice during the downtime

Vs drunk guys who are really just thinking about something else.

I did a job like this.. not sure if it was Cobra group but they were all pyramid. In about 2003/2004 I think over the Christmas period. Was a rollercoaster of a job, some days were so crap (walking door to door trying to sell sh*t to businesses was hard) - but some days were just bullshit fun - selling tickets at boxing day test, buggering off after making a couple hundred in the early part of the day to sit and drink with the other workers in the afternoon. Went to adelaide to sell crap over there for a few days and partied like crazy and hook ups was like being on some weird work style contiki trip. Ahh.. but meh, because it was this weird cash in hand style job, no one paid tax and you burned most of the money you made each day drinking with them that night.
