A red card can be appealed, but it's usually unsuccessful.
I stand corrected. I thought that in the cases of serious violent conduct you can't appeal at all to the FA.

Would you know why its different in Europe, FC? You can't appeal to The Control and Disciplinary Body at all unless the wrong player is sent off. No two ways about it.

Because the FA do whatever they want/have their own rules.

FIFA state it can't be appealed, but the FA choose to ignore them and hear appeals.

dont think your being fair on timmy ,cotchin9, he was one of the only players that wasnt a wank last night.

as for kyg, im kind of glad he's missing the arsenal game, as he would have been close to hopeless in that fixture.

i actually wouldnt mind seeing masch play at right back again.

and for those giving babel a hard time, he actually ran hard for once, and i for one would rather he play upfront alone, instead of ngog (if he earnt his place of course).

Why? Their performances have been poles apart - as have been their endevour levels. N'Gog has done an excellent job in a really difficult situation this season.

Just because Babel rabbits on about being a striker, it doesn't mean he is.

He nearly always played on the left at Ajax as well.

I'm not sure why he thinks he's a striker. He has no game intelligence and no awareness. He's a headless chook. He's utterly putrid wherever he plays.

I strongly disagree with every statement you've made in this post. Especially the bolded one, Tim Cahill is always a wanker and always will be a wanker.

Agreed. Babel gave a bit in the limited time he had on the pitch. The other player who deserves credit is Lucas. Solid game from him. Actually showed some courage a few times. It was a great win by the lads in a really, really gutsy performance in a scrappy, difficult sort of game.

Dare I say it, but we're in some good form and have beaten some quality opponents over the last few weeks - Everton, Spurs and Villa. Next two games against Arsenal and Man. City will be the real acid test. Let's hope we're up for it!

The derby was awesome!

I sat in the mainstand in the corner near the Everton supporters. Very mouthy lot they are :p

Didn't take losing to us very well at all obviously, were still gobbing off at the final whistle with fiery words and insults. All very funny.

Had an excellent view of the goal and the celebrations were right in front of me.

Thought we played quite well, Mascherano was immense, and Kuyt - well, he frustrates me a lot, but games like yesterday, you can't help but like him.

Did the big Greek deserve to see red? Haven't been on the net since before the game and havent read the reports and without wanting to sound like Arsene Wenger, I didn't have the best view of it.

Speaking of Wenger's mob, I'm also seeing us play them at the Emirates. Win that and I might start to feel confident we'll finish fourth, still a way to go though, and we haven't won at Arsenal since God knows when.

I implore you all to try and make it to Anfield before our shit McStadium is built. I realise obviously that its not that easy to get to, but its a ****ing amazing ground, got character, history, soul and great atmosphere.

Well worth it.

Early March for Torres?? Really?? It's only the freaking 8th day of February!

Shit creek... no paddle.
Well, the good news is... Feb only has 28 days, so therefore... it's a few days shorter than it normally would be :D

But yeah, he's still about a month away. But knowing Nando, he'll make an early return and get injured again... Then miss the rest of the season.

They should be getting used to it. 7 derbies without a win. 12 years without a win at Anfield. What an insignificant, futile football club they are.

Did the big Greek deserve to see red?
Yes he did. Dumb challenge. He got sent off 3 times during his time with Rangers and obviously hasn't cleaned up his act. Unlike others, I don't think Fellatio deserved to get sent off in that incident but he most certainly did when he kicked Kuyt in the head about 10 mins earlier. Disgraceful.

We might just nick it. Arsenal's confidence would've taken a hit lately and although they'll probably have most of the posession we might get lucky on the counterattack. Could mean more time for Babel who probably has a bit more pace than N'gog.

I've a feeling we could be playing at Anfield for some time yet.;) But you're right, it's something I'll have to do one day. For a true LFC fan it should be compulsory, like the Muslims visiting Mecca.

They will be starting to get worried now, it's been such a long time between drinks for them.

Definitely agree that the Greek deserved his red card, I disagree about your assessment of Fellaini, on both counts though. I thought he should have been sent off for his challenge on the Greek and should have been booked for kicking the ball into Kuyt's face earlier.

Their confidence will have taken a hit and being at the Emirates, they will look to attack. Babel might start as you say, he may have the pace to exploit Arsenal's back four when they push forward, but then again, Babel has a bucketload of pace, his first touch often lets him down, he often displays a complete lack of a football brain... He may get 178 chances to score against Arsenal, but probably wont take any of them.

I've a feeling we could be playing at Anfield for some time yet. But you're right, it's something I'll have to do one day. For a true LFC fan it should be compulsory, like the Muslims visiting Mecca.
Oh, we'll definitely be at Anfield for quite some time, there's no chance we'll get out of there unless we get taken over...

It also definitely is something I want to do before we do move (if we ever do), but as you should, it should be compulsory, even if someone is just a partial fan, being at the ground, being able to feel the atmosphere, feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when everyone is singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' before kick-off.

It would be absolutely amazing.

Pepe is now only 1 behind on league cleansheets.

With how shocking our defence has generally been, just show's he's class. He's been much better dealing with corners and crosses this year too, which had been the only minor issue with his game.

Still very young in keeper terms. Absolute gun. Should be given a 10 year contract.

If Portsmouth get kicked out of the league, they will be behind us. Plus not to mention City will be 9 points behind.

Arsenal away has always been our bogey fixture. We are going to have to try bully and catch them on the counterattack. It will be extremely hard without Torres though.

We have been piss poor away from Anfield aswell so I would normally say we have no chance. But the way we have been playing as of late I won't count anything out.

You'll need to exploit Clichy as frequent as possible. On the counter, he is hopeless. Reminds me of Paddy Evra when he first came to our club. Possibly Gerrard on the right might do the trick?

Nice to hear the commentators in this morning's game say that if we beat Arsenal we'll be only 2 points behind them. Who woulda thought that possible a few months ago
Its a bloody big 'if' though, considering we've never won at the Emirates, even when we've been closer to full strength.

Which has me thinking, has Torres ever played Arsenal at the Emirates? Maybe once in the CL? Fit and in form he could cause havoc this week.

It'd be nice to get Arsenal drawn into the battle for CL spots. We could even end up pinching 3rd place and direct qualification for 2010/11.
