Well given that Agger is also out and there's a sheetload of games coming up, we'll be in trouble in one of those two go down as well.
Perfect chance for Kelly or Wilson to get some minutes. Would have been a great scenario for Ayala who is doing well at Hull at the moment.

You cant blame RH for that one. He picked a decent side, only two gripes were Skrtel starting on front of Soto and Konch playing at all. But Skrtel then scored... for both teams so I guess that doesnt matter.

But he restored Lucas to midfield and went with two up front and we should have been up 2 or 3 nil before the penalty decision. Absolute golden chances for Nando twice and Maxi and both completely ****ed it.

The game should have been wrapped up before Tottenham even got there first. I thought we played pretty well but when you miss golden chances like we did time and time again then it will always come back to bite you, particularly against a good side like Spurs at there own home ground.

Apparently we dont play anyone from the top 4 until February now so we REALLY, REALLY need to start stringing together some results. Were so shit though, im hoping for a couple of good signings in January. Plus we need to start thinking of a replacement for Torres, not just a strike partner for him. He wont stay next season, not when were this shit.

Funny how you guys still give Carra no credit despite playing really well of late, including another brilliant charge down which was a sure fire Defoe goal. It's a blow to lose him for 6 weeks, particularly considering the shitness of Skrtel and Agger out injured.

you kind of contradict yourself here.

how should you be up 2-0 when you save a sure fire goal yourself?

I thought Carra was pretty good this morning. He seems to always play well against Spurs. Maxi was good for the first 10 minutes, went missing for 30 and then had that shocking miss. Raul was a super signing for you guys, think he is a fantastic player.

He was very good last night I thought, definately better than Skrtel was regardless of him scoring. I thought him and Johnson did pretty good for us and they were let down big time by Torres and Maxi. But Carra won't be around forever so time to see how the others stand up in his absence. We all love Kyrgiakos playing because of his aerial abilities but I would also like to see Kelly given a chance there. Its a big shame Agger is injured though, this would of been a golden oppurtunity for him,

carra actually played well, but im looking foward to kyg playing as he is an aerial threat, and hopefully wilson getting a few opportunities.

as soon as maxi fluffed that chance i knew we were going to loose, he has been trying to dribble the keeper on just about every occasion he gets in to the box. it wasnt even a time when he couldnt hit it first time, there was no need to dribble gomes.

meireles and lucas were really good, and johnson actually defended fairly well for 95% of the game. konchesky was our worst player, but i like aurelio playing further up the field as he can actually pass.

We need a new left back in January, almost a must now.

Lucas and Raul were top notch, Johnson, Carra and Skrtel we're also solid.

United at the toilet, yippppe. :(

Re-call Insua as he is not getting any minutes and coach doesn't want him.

Doesn't have the pace for EPL but he is young and is better than Koncheshy.
Highly doubtful Roy will bench Konchesky just 6 months after buying him and hocking off two of our brightest talents at the same time.

So who do we give the captaincy to now that Gerrard and Carragher are out.

I'd say Reina because he is boss, but I'd also nominate Lucas.

Yes, Lucas.

Yeah I know, I'd just like to see Lucas get the job.

Konchesky needs to go right now, I could of defended better than him last night. Play Aurelio at first choice left back until he gets injuried again.

Reina

Kelly - Skrtel - Kyrgiakos - Aurelio

Johnson - Lucas - Meireles - Maxi

Kuyt or N'gog - Torres

I'd like to see us put out that team next time out, will not happen though.

Lucas captained us in a pre-season game, but neither Reina nor Kuyt played that night in what was a young, inexperienced side. I'm not sure if a goalkeeper is the best option to be captain?

Disappointing result last night, but the performance was much better and hopefully we can produce that sort of performance away from home more often.
