Posted this in the Dalglish thread but i'll post it here as well.
Well for one I don't think we'll be making Champions League next season even if we brought Bill Shankly or Paisley back from the dead to take the job.
Owners need to think long-term. That's why I wouldn't mind an appointment like AVB. High risk, yes, but needs to be given the all too precious commodity of time. We need to be realistic about where we stand in English and World football at the moment, which is not top four. And we can't go sacking managers if we finish 6th or 7th or 8th. This managerial merry-go-round of the last 18 months is doing more harm than good.
Owners need to have a long-term vision and trust in it. Concentrate on getting back to where we should be.
Rafa is an interesting one. Part of me feels we need a completely fresh start. Wipe the slate completely clean. There are still players here, that if you believe the press, ruined the dressing room and basically got him the sack. So in that sense, probably not a good move. However, he's already done so much with the Academy and getting Segura and Borrell in that it does feel like it makes a lot of sense.
And if we hire Martinez, the yanks can go **** themselves.
