I rate Rodgers highly
So most of us fans agree he was the right man for the job, or do we still prefer that we went backwards to Benitez, or Capello?

Im suprised a little that Martin Oneill is never considered for a big job, obviously there is something wrong with him.

*Something to note bout Rodgers, he has experienced coaching youth teams, Reserves teams, and Senior sides.:thumbsu:

Whats the deal with Matin Oneill? Was brilliant at leister/celtic/villa and now sunderland.
Is it the way he looks a bit of a psycho? his teams usually play good football to.

Also has anyone watched much of Norwich this season, how do they play, as Lambert also wasnt considered for LFC, but did very well this yr?

*Also must admit my preference from the start was to get Rodgers, as Swansea have been awesome this yr, but Martinez was my second preference, the guy has been unfairly criticised by LFC fans, he has more ability as a manager than Kenny does at this point in time.
I Really didnt want AVB or Capello, Benitez is a step backwards.

Who knows man who knows! He is a good manager but not what we were looking for. That's true, but maybe like I said again not what we are looking for? Yeah Rodgers I like.

Anyone who has watched much of Carroll in the last year and a half would struggle to say he's been excellent at anything.

But the little loopy thing on the end of my post means that I was asking a question not making a statement. And the question was "suited or unsuited" so I dont know why you've presumed I think he's unsuited.
Because you're clearly trolling.

One thing on Rodgers. Worth pointing out... without sounding like the unemployed illiterate bloke... that Martinez actually probably did more for Swansea than Rodgers. I still think Rodgers under a DOF is the right call but just found interesting some who were so opposed to Martinez are so accepting of Rodgers.

Signing Rodgers is a high risk, potentially high reward move. Just reading a few of his interviews & hearing what all the other managers & journalists have to say about him, as a football mind he's way ahead of the curve in Britain & is held in unbelievably high regard by his peers. Harry Redknapp said earlier in the year that if the FA were serious about making technically & tactically better English footballers he thought Rodgers should be in charge of teaching English players at all youth levels.

In addition to this, Swansea were applauded off at Anfield & Old Trafford because of how well they played. That just doesn't happen. I've seen Barca & Arsenal receive that honour a few times, but for fans to have that much respect for how a team like Swansea is playing football definitely says something.

You obviously didn't watch the FA Cup final and the last 2 months of the season, during which AC was excellent. The ball has dropped for AC now I feel. Always struggled after his 3 month layoff which was followed by the off season.

Trolling? Grow up.

It's a legitimate discussion point that as it happens is being discussed widely in the press today.

If you think he's suited, fine. If you don't fine. I havent even offered my opinion so I'm not sure how that is trolling.

As it happens I did watch him both when he was subbed on in the cup, and in the last few months of the season.

I also watched him on several other occasions over the past three years or so. All of which I use to form my opinions of him.

Im not sold on Rodgers. I do hear great things about him from the press, rival managers and ex players and things like that. He also apparently is very sure of himself, not in a cocky way but he just really believes in himself. He also got Swansea playing beautiful football. But the expectations at Swansea at the start of the season were probably, just try to avoid relegation. Not much pressure for that gig.

At LFC, a whole different kettle of fish. We have expectations and being completely honest we expect to beat every team we play, home or away outside of City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. Those games can always go either way. But against every other team and almost every game at home, we go in as favourites. Can Rodgers handle that kind of pressure where results have to come and come quickly.

Also no risk bringing in a bloke for 1 million or on a free. Now he has to scout and sign 10-20 million type players and they have to work. The step up from Swansea to Liverpool is absolutely GIGANTIC.

Swansea believe it or not dont even have their own training ground and facilities. The Swansea players were sharing a private health club with the public. So they had the same changerooms, gym etc as any member of the private club. That's mickey mouse football compared to the facilities LFC offers.

Massive, massive step up. I hope he can handle it. If he gets us playing the way Swansea does, with the obvious upgrade of players then we should go quite well.

I'm excited as hell, between Ross Lyon and the last few LFC managers I feel I'm owed some free-flowing, attractive football.

What you wrote just enhances Rodgers achievements, and shows just how bad LFC were this season. :D

Things are starting to look good for LFC.

Biggest shirt sponser deal in the PL, apparently willl soon sell the naming rights to the new anfield for a huge amount to. (I prefer upgrading anfield than a new stadium, apparnetly it just isnt worth building a new stadium that will hold 60,000).
Got a great manager, who will make the team play great football as well.

Off the field the new owners are getting things right, lets just hope on the field things go well.
Im still a little concerned about the quality of our squad, wonder what Rodgers will do with that squad, hopefully get rid of experienced guys (Kuyt/Rondriguez/Bellemy/Caragher etc) and bring in youth.

Have heard that Anfield will soon be known by another name. Good for the finances but will the support base be happy with that?
Even if it did change, people will still call it Anfield.

I mean, look at AAMI Stadium...tons of people still refer to it as Football Park

Horrid appointment. You need someone who knows how to play attacking football. Not another defensive minded coach who wants to hog possession in the back end of the midfield

Another problem with Rodgers is he is still unproven. One year doesnt make a manager. Every single person knows the true test of a promotion team comes in there 2nd season. First year they are unknown. Second season teams form tactics and strategies to overcome them as they become more acustomed to there play. Said it well before Liverpool appointed him but I did expect the game plan to blow up in Swanseas face next season when teams simply played a 5 man midfield and essentially matched there formation.

While Swansea were the most accurate team in terms of passing and finishing chances they were 19th for both creative passes and shots on target. Fact is Swansea dont make alot of chances, they just finished them off very well. Whether this is the case at Liverpool we will wait and see. Regardless those stats just show you dont have a overly attacking coach ready to takeover like alot of people seem to think
