Carroll's getting better and better as each game passes. Give him a run of games

This back four is good, keep it. Carra will have to do something extraordinary or wait til Agger's injured to get back in.

And they're a ****ing hapless bunch, they got Woyed

Yep. Rock solid back 4 who, without Carra, have been able to push up higher on the pitch. This has allowed both wing backs, Enrique and Johnson, to get into attacking positions.

I have been a very harsh critic of Lucas in the past, but gee has he becomec a good player. He has controlled the midfield beautifully!

No hoofing and higher line, I love it, ****ing love it

Suarez is a top, top, top, top football, he amazes me every week

Henderson was good, too. Downing on the other hand was atrocious

Keep the defenses tight and we're in with a shot. 3rd and 4th very much up for grabs. Oh and I have Reina and Enrique in my fantasy team, so clean sheets would do very nicely!

No Carragher and suddenly we get a clean sheet, coincedence?

Second half was ****ing awful, West Brom were too timid to attack in fear of getting smashed on the counter and it made for painful viewing

As much as I love Carra, we were rock solid in defence but the most pleasing thing was the higher line and playing the ball out from the back and keeping it on the deck. We all know Carra likes a good hoof but with Skrtel and Agger, hoofing was only happening when absolutely needed.

Johnson and Enrique got forward a lot too and played well. Downing though was shite, I wanted Bellamy to come on much earlier than he did, then he came on for Suarez instead of Downing?? Didnt matter in the end though. Carroll is getting better with each game too, he really had an impact on the game and scored quite a good goal too.

Im not even gonna speak about Suarez, as Kenny has said, ive run out of words to say about him.

With Chelsea losing, it's tightened up for 3rd through 7th. Arsenal have come right back into the fight for top 4 which I hoped they wouldnt but they are only one RVP injury away from mid table. Only one point behind Chelsea now.

So are Newcastle genuine contenders for top 6, or will they drop off eventually? They've been in the top 4 ever since the start of the season, but I haven't seen any of their games.

Id much prefer Agger and Enriques, then Coates and Johnson and Skrtel followed by Carragher as a preference for defence.
Having said that with all the complaining going on its justifiable and its not.
Justifiable in a way where weve had so many scoring chances wasted for a return of 14 goals. This has hurt us against Stoke, ManU and Norwich. 5 points there lost. Thats the difference between us and United.
On the other hand weve only conceded 10 goals in 10 games. And achieved our 1st or 2nd clean sheet on the weekend. The lineup was minus Carragher. I dont think Jamies all that bad. Its just that theres better.
For the record the only team with better defences than ours at the moment have yet to lose a game all year.
Playing Carrol with Suarez and giving Agger, Enriques and Johnson a gig together will only strengthen us going forward.

Think they'll drop off personally. A lot of those type teams do well until Christmas then fall off the wagon.

They have had a softish start to the season iirc...

lets see Arsenal @ home 0.-0
Sunderland away 1-0
Fulham home 2-1
QPR away 0-0
Villa away 1-1
Blackburn home 3-1
Wolves away 2-1
Spurs home 2-2
Wigan home 1-0

a few tougher fixtures coming up tho... stoke away, everton at home then man city and man u away and chelsea at home, so we should see where they are at after the next half dozen games or so

Newcastle do this all the time, have a positive start to the season, then have a few crap results, slip down the table, as their expectations rise because of the positive start, Pardew will get sacked and they will finish mid-table.

Good win and a really controlled performance last night. Again, could and should have scored 4 or 5 but this time we kept the opposition at bay really well. Thought the penalty was a bit soft but we've been unlucky at other times so we'll take what we can get.

Good to see Carroll score again and his partnership with Suarez continue to develop. Agger has done really well in the last two games and Enrique is a gun at LB. :thumbsu:

Three points at home against Swansea next weekend would ensure that we're reasonably well placed heading into the next international break.

That is a pretty soft draw. They have done well not to lose to Spurs and Arsenal but a testing stretch coming up for them, I fully expect them to fall away and finish mid table.

They have played 3 teams in the top half for 3 draws, 2 of them at home, the rest have all been teams lower than 12th, with their wins coming against teams placed 14, 15, 17, 18, 20.... so yeah pretty softish start :)

but hey... you can only beat who is put in front of you and with a decent start they should crack the top half you'd think

Good solid win against WBA though it must be said we probably won't get softer opponents away from home.

Good to see Carroll playing a lot better. Enrique continues to be a joy to watch, Suarez continues to be all class but gee the boy can miss a chance!

On the debit side Reina has been having a few 'adventures' lately. His old weakness against crosses seems to be rearing its head again. Downing continues to be very ordinary and I really can't see how Dalglish justifies picking Henderson over Kuyt as a RW. Hendo may one day make a good CM but he's not a winger's bumhole. It looks a bit like KD is trying to justify the money spent on him.

We play another promoted team at Anfield next. Surely we won't drop another 2 points?

To be fair, ours hasn't been a great deal harder.

Also Man United at home too which I forgot. I think Newcastle has hosted United and had to travel to Emirates and WHL, they would have less points than they do now. But kudo's to them, you can only play who is in front of them and have done really well to take the maximum of there situation.

Newcastle will probably get found out in the next two months.

Away games at Stoke, City, United, Liverpool and tough home games to Chelsea and Everton will see then drop back into mid table I reckon.

I'd exepct Spurs and Arsenal to make a run up the table in the next couple of months, Man United also have a pretty easy run. City, Chelsea and Liverpool all got 3 or 4 loseable matches coming up.

We certainly have two tough matches coming up away to Chelsea and at home to City. BUt we have Swansea at Anfield before that and following those tough back to back games we have Fulham away and QPR at home. So really hoping to go well in those two tough games, but also really important to take maximum against Swansea, Fulham and QPR. 9 from 15 points wouldnt the worst thing ever. Still hoping to get something away at Chelsea and despite City being awesome I always expect victory at Anfield.

Double figure points tally from the next 5 PL fixtures would be golden. Any more and it's bonus time.

Steven Gerrard has now undergone treatment to clear out all infection from his right ankle, which has been placed in a protective plaster cast.

The player will not be available for this weekend's game against Swansea City or for the upcoming England friendlies against Spain and Sweden.

Steven will now continue his rehabilitation programme under the guidance of the Club's medical staff.
Hopefully he's back for the Chelsea game on the 20th but it doesn't sound all that promising...

We need to central mid January, a bit short otherwise, coz Gerrard's always injured nowadays

Apparently the new stadium design will be out shortly, 68k, trying to negotiate it to 73k with the council (who are jerks). Same blokes who designed the Allianz Arena I think? And naming rights and stuff are sorted with Standard Charter or something, too

Not bad
