Agreed, I remember commenting at the time of the Meireles sale that his departure would leave us one CM short. Hopefully, this is addressed in January.

Interesting news re the stadium. Going to be sad to leave Anfield (as looks likely) but we have to do what we have to do...

Yeah the council wont have any of it, which is shitty considering how large a part of the community the football club is. Not to mention, keeping the historic ground and it being much, much cheaper to just redevelop Anfield, rather than build an entirely new stadium.

If were going to build though it has to be 70-75k. Ive heard Henry say it's poinless to build a whole new stadium if its only going to be 60k. Another 15k isnt financially viable to spending 300 million on a stadium. If were doing it, it has to be done properly. That means 75k.

As for CM, I dont think we need to buy another. We have Adam, Henderson, Spearing and Lucas who can all play in the middle. Gerrard will be back.

I would have thought to lift capacity from 40k or so to 70-75k you'd be looking at a fair bit of upheaval to the surrounding houses/shops etc. Theres not a lot of room there, and expansion would probably involve things like compulsory purchases and the like which a council won't want to get involved with.

And there's be an expectation that any help given to Liverpool would be given to Everton as well, you could argue that by helping Liverpool the council will be upsetting a good percentage (must resist the temptation to say the obvious) of the people who are going to vote for them (or not).

Still don't know why so many are against a groundshare with Everton. Seems crazy to me.

Would you groundshare with United? Nobody wants to groundshare, certainly not us and Everton supporters dont want it either. Horrible idea.
Wouldn't bother me to be honest. I wouldn't want us to move into the theatre of wank, because as a ground to watch football it's an absolute shithole. But if the circumstances arose and both clubs needed a new stadium it would seem a bit pointless to build two when one could do at half the expense. United might face a bit of resistance from their supporters moving the club into Manchester though.

The ground that still holds Man Uniteds record for highest home attendance is Maine Rd FWIW.

Which is why I think moving to a new site which isn't Anfield is the answer, if they moved to Stanley Park it would provide them the room to get the stadium right.

Speaking of Shelvey, here are the two goals that he has scored so far during his loan spell at Blackpool:

How did Suarez get a penalty vs WBA when he ahd his arm around the bloke too? Bizarre.
Didn't have his arm around him, had the ball, WBA player could've easily just have got it but decided to unfairly knock over Suarez. Clear penalty. Now piss off back to your own team board.

Wouldn't have been a foul if the defender moved towards the ball, defender clearly moved to block Suarez rather than play the ball. Silly really, since Suarez was going away from goal. Mason then somehow managed to call a foul against Carroll who was pushed by one WBA defender into another!!

Did he? Didn't think he did from the live angle I saw. He had a clear passage to the ball and was unfairly blocked out. Quite a lot of sane people seem to think it's a penalty

I laugh at the English media and other people who suggested Suarez dived there though. Of all the examples to try vindicate their claims, they picked the worst one. He didn't even appeal ffs

Yeah Paul Scharner from West Brom came out and called him the best diver on the planet for that, Scharner's a tool if he thinks he dived there.

Not to mention the foul against Suarez in the Carling Cup match vs Stoke where he stayed on his feet when easier to go down and win a deserved penalty. I mean, surely someone who is supposed to be a "diver" would never stay on his feet after being fouled would they? I also recall in the 3-0 win vs Newcastle United last season Suarez being chopped at by 2 defenders in the box and still not going down. Certain City & United fans on this site choose not to remember those occasions though and what happened at Stoke in the Carling Cup :(

In contrast to Shrek who threw himself to the floor on at least 2 occasions vs City appealing for a penalty.

Oh look, Liverpool's very own Grand Blue. You guys should be proud.

40 seconds, Suarez arm goes around his waist.

Not sure it's as stonewall as you make it. As the commentator says, he sues his body.

I don't think he dived but it was a shit call in my opinion. Agree re: media.

Suarez's arm went around him after he had been blocked off and he was already going to ground, in either case it was hardly a hold and if you think it was I suggest you hang out with your kin on the Carlton board ;)

Footage of Shelvey's hat-trick (as part of Blackpool's 5-0 win at Leeds last night):

http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/leeds-blackpool-(championship-november-2011)-15641802/

One penalty and two well-taken goals from some really nice runs and positioning. :thumbsu:
Well taken hatty. Proving to be a real quality youngster, just has to bring that kind of game to the big leagues now. He has proven he can dominate in the lower leagues, he is definitely capable though at the top level.

You're clutching at straws Cruyff. It's undoing your attempts at trying to be a well-disguised troll
There was a disguise?
If I actually wanted to troll, I would come in and say something like Liverpool wish they were as big as United, but I have not said anything along those lines.

However, I am not interested in trolling. A lot of you seem to think if your opinion is disagreed with, it amounts to trolling. Stop being so biased and look at it from another perspective for a change.

Penalty or not, it was a soft call.

Crucify me for having an opinion.
