The team is weaker without Phil and until he’s replaced we have made our rivals path to top 4 that much easier. Seeing that picture of Suarez and Phil together in Barca kit makes me think what we could achieve with them in this current team under Klopp.

Makes me cry actually. And I'm still finding it hard to move on with Coutinho going.

Given Firmino can play as a CAM and CF and has a good tank,

What would your guys thoughts be if we bought a top striker in the summer and moved Firmino into the midfield 3?

I wouldn't really call him a playmaker or dribbler like Coutinho but interested to hear your thoughts on this hypothetical.
I think he could play the 10 role. I think he played as a 10 quite a bit in Germany.

Have a Man City (bandwaggoner) friend and we often watch City games and have the Saurez vs Aguero debate. I'm obviously in the Suarez camp - Aguero is so clinical so probably better by some criterion. In Luis though, I've never watched a player that so consistently produced the unbelievable. At the end there he just produced every kind of goal, just physics bending insanity.

No Leeds.

Raises an interesting question - how many non Scouse fans would follow the reds all the way down to div 1?
I guess I would, bit like being a Fitzroy supporter I suppose, but at least with a chance of getting back to the top.

The Suarez v Aguero debate is a non contest. If you talk specifically about what they have done in the Prem then it is easily Aguero. If you are talking about who is the better player then it is Suarez.
I don't know why this debate is artificially constrained to the EPL.

Suarez is simply better, league agnostic.

Salah and Sturridge back training. No sign of Moreno or Henderson.

My predicted side for City:

Mane-Firmino-Salah
Lallana-Can-Ox
Robertson-VVD-Matip-Arnold
Mignolet

Subs: Karius, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez, Milner, Wijnaldum, Sturridge

Lallana and Ox in the midfield is very attacking.

Wijnaldum or Milner will start in place of one of them I think. And there's only room for one of Lovren and Klavan on the bench is Virgil and Joel start.

Mignolet
Gomez Van Dijk Matip Robertson
Can Milner
Mane Oxlade-Chamberlain Salah
Firmino

Karius Klavan Alexander-Arnold Wijnaldum Lallana Sturridge Solanke

News from German sources Bild and Kicker that Keita wants to come to us early and Leipzig will let him go if they get an extra 10mil.
Done then. Keita will be our key player for years to come, get him here quickly as possible. Coutinho paid for it after all.

No. PLaying in the CL is still playing in the CL even if they get knocked down to the EL.
Yeah, I think the confusion here is that you can still play CL for another club if you were part of the qualifying rounds for a different club, because that isn't Europe proper, but 'qualifying' for Europe.

I'd still follow LFC if they got relegated, but I like watching excellent football too, so I'd still watch the highlights of the PL and La Liga, and given Phil and Luis I reckon I will be watching more full matches of Barca.

I'm hearing it's more like 15-20 million.
North worth it IMO.
That's nearly 100 mill for VVD & Keita (extra half a season)
Bild reporting that they want €10M-€15M (£8.9M-£13.3M) to do the deal now.

http://metro.co.uk/2017/12/14/liverpool-set-pay-higher-price-sign-naby-keita-rb-leipzig-7159531/

"Should RB Leipzig miss out on a place in Europe, which is outside the top six, Liverpool would pay €65m (£57.2m). If Keita helps guide his side to a Europa League spot, Liverpool will pay €70m (£61.6m). While if RB Leipzig finish in the top four to keep their place in the Champions League, Liverpool’s spend will rise to €75m (£66m)."

Leipzig are currently 5th, level on points with 3rd placed Dortmund. Odds are that with those very achieveable add ons we'll be paying them another £7-11m in the summer anyway. I'm all for getting it done now. He'd be hugely helpful for our chances of qualifying for the CL again, and of winning the FA Cup. What value do you place on that?
