I agree he is no Coutinho, more like Gerrard. What I am saying though, is he is integral to where we are going and the sooner he is assimilated into our game play the better.

We have to be careful in replacing Coutinho. Whilst we would like someone now, we don't want to get the wrong player or massively over pay, and defintley not both. Don't know enough about Lemar but reports seem positive.

I think we can still make top four with Lallana, AOC etc filling the Coutinho hole.
Imagine giving Klopp peak Gerard right now

I've only really seen Lemar on YouTube but if you check out videos, he plays sort of the same position and does really similar stuff to Coutinho. He's just not as polished yet, not as good but Coutinho is I think 3 years older than him. What Lemar does have over Cout is pace too. He seems like he is like for like but I'm not gonna pretend im a Lemar expert.

Im not sure I can agree with you re: Lallana, Ox covering Cout's hole. Cout's impact is huge. He starts every attack and is often the man to create a chance be it the hockey assist or the actual assist. He will be HUGELY missed and it's gonna have to be a massive effort to get into the top four now without him.

Peak Gerrard, Hyypia, Reina, Alonso and Suarez in this side.

Reina
Clyne VVD Hyypia Robertson
Keita Gerrard Alonso
Mane Suarez Salah

Firm first cab off the rank.

Many titles.
I actually think Keita might be the missing link and Cout will not be missed as much as some think. Liverpool play too many attacking players IMO and a dominant central mid who can help out in defence which Cout was not is the missing piece.

Positives
Provides the set piece stuff we've lost from Cout's exit.
Gives the squad a point of difference, being a genuine left footed winger or central mid.
Agree that's he's quicker and more of a pass & move guy (as you alluded to in an earlier post).

Negatives
Doesn't have the rocket shot from distance and the super elite dribbling skillz of Cout (although not many in world football do).
Question mark re how he operates against parked buses, including his ability to pick a keyhole pass to unlock a packed defence
He is very slight and small in stature; not sure whether this is great considering Naby is a bit of midget as well

I'm pro-Lemar BTW, would take him at 60M euros.

I thought he’d already agreed to join Juventus...

Emre has now suggested that he will wait until the end of the season before making a decision on his future.

“First of all there are still many games with Liverpool to concentrate on, but I hope to be able to stay healthy and go to the World Cup in the summer.

“We have been in a good way and we want to try to continue winning as many games as possible and hopefully that can mean having a good run in the FA Cup as well as the Premier League and the Champions League.

“We want to win a trophy. We are full of belief that winning a title is something this squad is capable of achieving and we will give our best.”

“It’s a big honour for me to play so many games for the club in just three-and-a-half years.

“Reaching that milestone is something that I am very proud of. Not too many people play that many games for a club like Liverpool by the age of 23 and you can’t do that if you are not a good player.

“I’m very thankful to all the trainers, the manager and all the staff here for the part they have played in helping me to achieve that because without them it wouldn’t have been possible.

“I am always my own biggest critic and although I am pleased with my development in these three-and-a-half seasons I know there are a lot of areas that I can still improve.”

Maybe the club have backed off a bit in their stance in regards to a release clause. Or the Italian rag was full of shit.

Wonder what the outcome will be wrt the alleged Firmino racist comments? Unless Holgate understands Portuguese he is skating on thin ice (or should be).
It has already been established that what Bob said was not racist and it was cleared up by the ref at half time.

There isn't much to investigate really. Most of the incident was caught on camera. Kenny blocked part of it when Holgate reacted but this was also surely heard by Madley who was inches away and possibly Lallana / Kenny. The FA must surely have all their statements by now. If Firmino hasn't been charged by early next week I would expect that the FA have decided he has no case to answer.

Guys, my question was will Holgate get into strife for making an unrealistic racist allegation. It's obvious that Holgate was trying to deflect attention from his push on Firmino, and sucked the ref in. To make a racism allegation against another player is serious shit. Will the FA have the balls to go for Holgate, or are they just going to take a strategic exit.

That was disappointing.

Probably not because what Bob said apparently sounded similar to a racist comment and the distinction is hard to notice if you don't speak Portuguese.

There's every chance Holgate misunderstood Firmino as he was clearly cursing in Portugese at the time. That isn't an unrealistic scenario. Of course in the very unlikely scenario the accusation was made maliciously one would expect a severe punishment.

Either way we should know very shortly if Firmino is being charged or not.
