Lovren had a pretty decent game today. Had his average falls per game and hacked Sterling, good day out.

I did find it funny that everyone "liked" RossFC 's running commentary when Karius f*cked up.

What was the catalyst for Karius coming in over Migs last year? I forgot if there was a specific moment because he did have a solid few months at some stage (when that's the barometer it says a lot).

I think it was December or Jan when Mignolet became completely useless and had to be dropped.

Couldn’t help but laugh at Lovren’s desperate “I’ll be the hero” 40 yard effort in extra time that he blazed miles over the bar. Infuriating when he tries that for Liverpool but funny when you see him do it for someone else.

Would love to see him score the winner in the final.
Had to spare Hendo the embarrassment of being the only one to try. Always looking out for the skip.

I thought if we were going for Shaqiri it would be to have money up our sleeve for a GK. I don't think it's to help make space for Fekir. Shaq can play as a centre forward, which was part of the appeal of Fekir. Theoretically we want a long-term elite midfielder to replace Milner, if not Lallana too (injury problems). If Fekir's knee is dodgy, he isn't a realistic long-term option. Shaqiri can adapt to our needs.

I know we're only playing friendlies v low sides, but there are a bunch of players already at the club working v hard to get their foot in the door. Klopp will love that. I don't think we need to do much more. There's a need at GK having alienated Migz. Sell Ings & loan Grujic back to Cardiff. Kent and Woodburn loaned too (both to Huddersfield?). If we can get a Fekir type (midfielder and forward), then sell Origi and loan one of Ojo or Wilson. Solanke could do with a loan, though, which might allow Origi to stay as a taller option who doesn't get injured. With him staying, then probably send Ojo on loan. Wilson seems like he can play in the middle too and is looking very keen to make a mark on the first team.

GK: New GK/Mignolet, Ward, Karius, Grabara
LB: Robbo, Moreno, Milner, Clyne, Gomez, TAA
RB: Clyne, TAA, Gomez, Fabinho, Camacho
CB: VVD, Lovren, Matip, Klavan, Gomez, Fabinho, Masterson
DM: Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Milner, Wijnaldum, Jones
M: Keita, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Lallana, Ox
AM: Lallana, Ox, Shaqiri, Firmino, Salah, Mane, Keita, Jones, Wilson/New purchase
Wingers: Mane, Salah, Ox, Shaqiri, Firmino, Wilson, Camacho
S: Firmino, Sturridge, Brewster, Origi/New purchase, Salah, Shaqiri, Mane

Squad: Klavan, Milner (32), Migz, Lallana (30), Lovren (29), Studge, Hendo (28), Wij, Clyne, VVD, Matip (27), Firmino, Shaqiri, Mane, Moreno, Salah (26), Ward, Karius, Ox (25), Fabinho, Robbo (24), Keita, Origi (23), Wilson, Gomez (21) / TAA, Grabara, Masterton (19), Brewster, Camacho (18), Jones (17).

I thought Dej looked intimidated by the English forwards this morning. It was a Ramos sort of performance - hacking rather than tackling. It worked, but I hope Matip re-finds his form.

I follow Karius on Insta, and he put up some kind of modeling video of him in LA. I mean yeah we all know he is good looking, but I kinda need him to be working on his game, not his modeling career. It annoyed me. I think he just annoys me now after the CL final.
Sounds similar to Eugenie Bouchard's problem. Modelling takes away and distracts the sportspeople from what their priority should be.
Possible issues with Shaqiri and Grujic?
I never thought of this. I guess because Grujic hasn't been a crucial part of the starting 11 in matches, it won't matter all too much for now.

Joyce says Shaqiri could be done as early as this weekend, Wilson going the other way on loan

Is this just sort of an opportunist buy. 13 million for someone of his quality. Because for me, he just doesnt have the quality to play for us, or the consistency. So often he will look great at Stoke then go missing for games on end.

I guess at that price you cant really complain. Gives us some decent depth on the cheap. I dont think he will feature too heavily though as he cant play in midfield and the front three is set in stone. Dont know how happy he will be with a bit part role.

Ojo looks sharp in preseason. Apparently didnt have a good loan. But whenever I've seen him play, he always looks like he has all the tools to be a really good wide player.
