You don't want Lallana to start? I think 25 million pounds is a bit for a non-starter, that's our second highest transfer even only behind the Andy Carroll deal which wasn't really our money anyway.

TBH I think we will get at least 1 more 'big' signing (20mil+) whether that be a striker or winger. Also think we will buy a CB and backup GK

Yeah absolutely, I think 4 or 5 of those guys I've listed as 'subs' are starting XI quality and could easily slot into that side, but that's what we should be aiming for as a club.

In the entire time I've been supporting Liverpool I don't think we've ever had the sort of quality and variety of options on the bench that we're likely to have this season which is really exciting. That competition for places is what drives performances and I'm sure we'll see a few players forcing their way up the pecking order and into the regular starting XI.

If I had to pick a team though, Coutinho & Sterling were the key drivers of our unstoppable form in the 2nd half of last season so at least to begin with they have to retain their spots, and we know how important Henderson is to this team, which leaves Shaqiri (if we sign him) & Lallana competing for that final spot. There's very little between them in terms of quality in my opinion and I'm sure there'll be a lot of rotation through those attacking/midfield roles.

Apparently we are planning to bid for Loic Remy, whom I really haven't seen enough of coz I dread watching Newcastle games for the 2nd half of last season. Anyone got a summary? I know he's a good finisher but just wondering how his allround game would hold up

The man has been a fantastic player for Liverpool during his time there, if I was Liverpool supporter I'd be remembering him fondly as well despite his shortcomings. He may be a questionable human being with some serious personal issues, but he tried his heart out for your club on the field and you can't ask for more than that as a supporter.
Ill forever love him, how can you not love probably the greatest player to ever play for your club. Dalglish and Stevie move over.

But do I want him to do well at Barcelona? Not really. Well I hope he personally does well. I hope he wins the Ballon D'Or which he is very capable of doing, I hope he wins golden boots in La Liga beating out Messi and Ronaldo but I hope Barca win **** all.

I hate Barcelona and Real Madrid. I hope Atletico somehow beats them to the title next season despite being cherry picked by Chelsea and other big clubs. I also hope we do a Michael Owen on Luis and go on to win the European Cup without him or win the League without him.

Owen regrets leaving Liverpool, Torres regrets leaving Liverpool. Now I hope we make Luis regret leaving Liverpool.

Depth is good but not for 25m, this isn't Real Madrid. Hopefully Brendan has him as a starter in his plans otherwise we're just throwing away money.

Lallana will play, whether he starts and keeps his starting spot is another thing.

If we buy Markovic, it will be for similar money that we spent on Lallana.

Gerrard and Henderson are definite starters, Coutinho in front of those two. Sterling and Sturridge shoe in's to start in the front three. Leaving one spot.

We're not stupid.. FSG came in wanting to return the glory days to Anfield.. they know we have to get this right and letting go of Suarez will make us vulnerable unless we spend this money spot on. I'm still expecting a few signings we haven't been linked with yet and I also think we will still have the idea of a stronger overall squad in mind given the extra games. Expecting our bench to be 10 times better than last season.. Am looking forward to seeing who we are linked with next and who we turn into the next Suarez. After putting up with the shit we did the last few seasons, I'm confident now we are in the right hands in terms of our manager and ownership. Think we will be ok but have to just see how it all plays out.

I'd argue you should count depth starting from after the first XI and bench, because anyone on the bench should be able to fill in for a tired or injured player the next game and be nearly or at least as good as them. Having a bench as good as the starting XI is nearly essential, further considering we will have games in Europe next season.

In that regard having Lallana on the bench in preliminary discussions about our starting XI is not a bad thing.

I'd start Lallana ahead of Markovic. Markovic will no doubt need time to settle in and adjust to England.

Lallana should definately start imo. I wouldn't mind seeing Coutinho as a real impact sub, would show we are really improving as a club. And they will all get their share of starts, we are in 4 competitions after all.

Still, with £25m and champions league on offer we should be bringing in a world class player that's going to send Hendo to the bench.

No one's sending Henderson to the bench after the season he had, unless we're buying someone clearly better like Vidal or Khedira

We were noticeably a poorer side without Henderson in the middle of the park, now that Can and Lallana are here hopefully we have more depth for the two dudes in front of Gerrard
