Basically says that 15 year old Martin Odegaard (one of the best young playmakers in Europe - in the same mould as Halilovic, already been capped with the Norwegian senior national team twice) is going to be trialling with a few clubs before Christmas, but that we are in pole position to sign him as he is a big Liverpool supporter. Would be a great pickup, I think his highlights have been posted in here before but here you go:

We don't need another wonder kid right now we need proven talent. I'll strangle FSG if they keep buying "potential" players.
We need both! Sterling is arguably our best and most dangerous player right now, and he comes with the added bonus that he's spent 5 years training in our academy learning exactly the way we want to play - and only cost us £500k! We keep filling up our youth teams with players of his calibre and it'll save us money and serve us well in the long term. In addition to that though like you said you need to top the team up with proven talent, hopefully the next Sanchez/Mkhitaryan/Willian that we pursue will decide that we're the right club for them.

Ive known about him for some time and I believe we have all spoken about him in this thread in the past. We have Riise to thank for him being a Liverpool fan and it certainly gives us a leg up in being able to sign him.

WorldCup2022OZ, I know we need proven talent but this kid could be something else and if he wants to come to Liverpool then surely we should get him. He wont cost anywhere near as much as he will in 6 or 7 years time. He wont help us now true. But Sterling couldnt help us when we bought him as a 15 year old either. That's looking pretty good right now.

Sure we need to buy established top end talent but continuing to buy young up and coming talent with a look to the future is a must.

I think our lack of goals isnt helping our defense either. We look completely toothless and if the defenders know a goal isnt coming, it ramps up the pressure to keep a clean sheet because they know if they concede, it's unlikely that we will come back to win the game.

Im not making excuses for our defense but if we are up 3-0, a lot of the pressure is off, knowing that if we do make a mistake, it wont cost us the game. So without pressure, the defenders can play without fear, they can be more natural.

It's a big problem. One im hoping Sturridge can go some way to fixing.

Objective
adjective
  1. 1.
(of a person or their judgement) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.
I would argue that nothing you post is objective mate. It's your opinion, and its fine to have one, but it is only your opinion. Others are allowed to have theirs without being called idiots and told to get their heads out of their asses.

See ADLs post yesterday for objective criticism. When you start making reasoned arguments I will start taking you seriously.

Everyone that has told you to pull up has done so politely respecting your opinion and you turn around and question them as Liverpool fans and blame your actions on someone provoking you.

...I am embarrassed to have responded
You clearly don't know what is objective at all, do you not even see how your opinion of what's objective is subjective itself? I agree and disagree with some of ADL's analysis (His positive opinions about our transfer business I'd say is highly bias), but just because he says things you like doesn't mean he's being entirely objective

Actually you have been anything but polite, you really have trouble with the definition of words, don't you?

I'm embarrassed to be engaging in a conversation with you, you have talked precious little about the club but have just been having a go at me while riding your high horse, classic hypocrite

Sterling will cost us 5 million eventually but still a bargain. I'm not against buying young players, it's something we must always do. I just think currently we need to go our and sign a top quality attacker plus a physically imposing DM/CM.

Happy to leave the defense as is. Lovren needs to be dropped and made to fight for his position. Only then will we see his true quality come out.

The "potential" strategy is one you use on 13-16 year old kids that you can buy at a very low cost and developed into at best superstars or squad players, or at worst players good enough for lower clubs that you can still sell to them on a profit. That's what Rafa always talked about

You don't repeatedly spunk 20 million a signing on potential, that really isn't how it works at all.

Besides, if the development thing is what we're aiming to do, shouldn't we be trying to develop highly rated kids already at the club like Suso and Rossiter and the likes and make them part of the squad instead of just wasting a lot of the 120 million on "depth signings"?

FSG's strategy is very flawed

jordan ibe could surely do the same job that markovic is doing at present?

this rep BR has with blooding & bringing the best out of the kids, he's blooded one. flanno was blooded before hand. although you could argue BR brought the best out of him. suso is on his way out, peterson showed signs in america, sold. robinson, wisdom will most likely get sold at the end of the year. coady is gone. fail to see how suso could have been any different to the impact a 6.8mil luis alberto gave to us, who lets be honest will most likely be sold at the end of the season or (loaned for further experience again because we'll make nothing from him). wisdom or cissokho last season? im really hoping ilori's career doesn't end up that way. selling danny wilson, who's gone on and done pretty well for himself at hearts. perfect agger replacement, reminds of him so much.

Unless your scouting is absolutely amazing, in today's market you really need to spend £30+ million on one good player.
But I don't think the club is willing to do that. All of our signings are below £25 million, with mostly below £20m. The last time we spent £30+ million was on Carroll.
Don't think we will get a lot of money in January after this summer transfer debacle.

The youngsters coming through now are more to do with us reaping the rewards for the groundwork Rafa put down in the academy during his time here

Suso is still a sad case, the kid is clearly class, got some flaws but he's a player, just never given a chance. And if we're developing kids then as you say, we can do with Ibe, or Ilori

Rodgers might or might not be great at developing players but his eye for a player seems to be dodgy as his record's shown

200k, Suarez is good but he's no Rooney

At the end of the day if you pay players wages they'd come, I don't think we offer more than what we value the player to be (which is how we lost some players) rather than the actual extra you need to attract them here, which is why we'll keep falling short

Pretty much nothing has gone right since Gerrard's slip against Chelsea in April.

From exhilaration to deflation.
The Tottenham game. That's about it. A long, dry spell of absolute crap.

Pretty brutal coming off the back of some of the most electric football the world - let alone the EPL - has ever seen.

We almost lost at home to Ludogorets FFS!
